Tokyo-based All Nippon Airways plans to style one of its Boeing 787-9 dreamliner jets like the R2-D2. The plane’s nose will be painted to look like R2-D2 with its characteristic blue and white stripes and other graphics looking like the droid’s various ports. The jet also bears a big Star Wars logo on its back.
This is a joint promotional venture to promote All Nippon’s international routes as well as Disney’s upcoming Star Wars movie. The ‘Star Wars’ jet liner will debut in fall while the movie itself is set to release in December this year around Christmas.
The R2-D2 jet is the first Star Wars themed jet and marks the beginning of the 5-year ‘Star Wars’ project of the All Nippon Airways.
