Last year in May, Huawei released its own 5-inch smartphone, the Ascend P7. It was a slim 6.5 mm thin phone with a metal frame. One of the selling points of the Ascend P7 was that it had a great front-facing camera. If you thought that phone was great, you will be pleasantly surprised by their latest flagship, the Huawei P8.
The Chinese site MyDrivers says that the P8 is expected to appear at the press conference to be held in the UK. The phone might be unveiled in this press conference to be held in April this year. Huawei wants to woo its customers with innovative phone frame materials. It is certainly true that others have yet to come up with a phone like this. Although we are a bit pessimistic about using ceramic for the frame. It can break easily because it does not bent all that well.
Using Gorilla Glass 3 for the screen is a welcome addition, but we hope that they do not use a ceramic case for the Huawei P8. Even if they do, it is bound to be a mixture of ceramic and some other material to give the feeling of ceramic without the obvious shortcomings of the material.
As for the specs, the Huawei P8 is expected to be a really thin phone just like the P7. Probably about 0.24 inches (6 mm). The phone is also expected to include a Kirin 930 octa-core processor which is a 16 nm processor made by Huawei. It is rumored that the phone might have a 5.2-inch 1080 x 1920 display. Dual-Cameras and a 2,600 mAh battery is also expected.
As for the price, it is expected that the P8 will cost around ¥2,999 or $480 in China.
