Public Review of MS Office 2016 now available as free download

Well, here is some good news for all the MS Office users as the Public Review for the MS Office 2016 is currently available for all Windows users to be downloaded and try. The company plans to release its next version by the second half of this year.

The MS Office 2016 now comes with Universal Apps that were shown during the BUILD conference last week. This preview version is basically focusing upon the intergration of various Office suite programs to the MS Cloud based service Office 365 in real-time. Another good feature is the integration of OneDrive in Outlook, which would allow users to directly attach files from the cloud storage service and then even set the permission for them. This all could be done in the Compose window for Outlook.

There is also a new email prioritizing feature called as Clutter which shows the most important emails first. The rest of the mails are stocked in the folder called as Clutter. Tell Me will be acting like a search tool wherein you can get things by typing them out. Excel too has got some cool data analysis feature. Updated Microsoft OneDrive for Business

Microsoft has updated OneDrive for Business with new design, site folders, smart search and simple controls.

The previous version consists of user interface refinement and the newer version consists of the simple control and added features in an all new design.

New Design

Microsoft has moved the OneDrive for Business Recycle Bin to the left hand side navigation area of the Web view. This is the first change anyone would notice.

“About Me” Page

The “About Me” page has been given a face-lift to highlight document and people you have in common with the person who is viewing your page. Also, previous upper left position of your profile picture will no longer appear in the OneDrive for Business user interface; however it’ll be displayed all across Office 360 when it becomes a part of the evolving global navigation bar which is on the top.

Simple Controls Bar

A new Simple Controls bar has been added by the Microsoft with “new”, “upload”, “sync”, “edit”, “manage” and “share” options. Simple Control bar appears right above your personal work document folders. You can create new Office documents, upload files, initiate sync to take files offline, share your files externally and internally and more, all just with a click or touch. Microsoft has made Simple Controls available for all team site document libraries.

Site Folders

Main Web view now has the new Site Folders link. It will directly take you to document libraries within sites you follow. With this option Microsoft has made OneDrive for Business the single location for all your work files, personal documents or shared files.

Smart Search

Smart Search joins the OneDrive for Business in addition to the above listed new features. The Smart Search is easy to use; you can just start typing a filename to find any document that has been shared with you or the one you have uploaded. Also, popping out search result allows you to take immediate actions like sharing a file. The smart search box is located at the upper left; earlier the search box was at the upper right.

“This change is for greater consistency across the Office 365 experience,” said Microsoft.
