After much rumors and wait, the LG G3 is finally here, and it looks like it was worth the wait. The new design retains the rear buttons. This time the rear buttons are more rounded and flatter. Its large 5″ screen and thin curved bezels give it a an elegant look. The screen is a Quad HD IPS LCD screen with a pixel density of 538 ppi. This gives the LG G3 a huge advantage over other phones. Flagship phones like the HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5 only have 1080p screens, the LG G3 has 4 times that resolution.

The LG G3 is plastic but it looks as if its made of metal.  The LG G3 is also pretty light, it only weighs 149 g.

Clove UK preorders for the LG G3 start form £500 / €615 for the 2GB RAM / 16GB storage version  of the phone. The stock is expected to arrive at the end of June. It is available in Black and Gold. Preorders for the LG G3 should ship by July 1. QuickCircle phone cases should also be available in different colors.

MobileFun UK is selling the phone for £500 / €615.  Black and Gold versions of the phone are available. Stock is expected to arrive in a month.

Carphone Warehouse pre-orders have also begun and the phones are expected to arrive in July.

So far we can tell by looking at the available pictures that there are only three color options Black, Gold, and White. Other colors like Burgundy Red, Moon Violet, and are not available yet.

UK Govt. prefers Microsoft over open sources - Creese

The cost cutting measures by Chief Information Officer of Hampshire, Jon Creese, have convinced him to prefer Microsoft to open source alternatives. Costs are not just limited to licensing fees, but the costs of deployment of products and hardware to improve front line services are also flexible, states Creese.

He reiterated that companies like Microsoft, SAP and oracle would have to work to justify the overpriced tenders and contracts signed by the government. Considering the performance of Microsoft, it is been expected that the software giant will continue doing so, ensuring that its products are deployed to maintain market share.

It is been asked that why Microsoft with its exorbitant licensing costs and others are preferred when the open sources are generally free. To this Creese replies that Microsoft has its own management tools for IT department and this makes it more affordable with Redmond.

In addition, the company has cut down on its licensing fees to make its offers more alluring. It also offers to help with development and business model, both.

Albeit, Microsoft is attempting to drive custom from windows XP to windows 8, it has promised to support UK and other countries who seek for an extended coverage of ageing operating system.

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra will no longer debut in the UK

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra was announced way back in January and was expected to be officially released in the UK soon. However, Sony seems to have decided not to bring the big 6-inch smartphone to the UK.

Online UK retailer Clove Technology has mentioned the Xperia T2 Ultra as ‘Discontinued’ on its pre-order page. It has also posted a notice in red capital letters saying, “THE SONY XPERIA T2 ULTRA WILL NOT BE COMING TO THE UK & IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR SALE.” Considering that a major retailer in UK has announced that the device is not coming to the UK, the news is definite.

However, no comment has been forthcoming from Sony in the matter. But in its January press release introducing the large screen smartphone, the company had mentioned that the Xperia T2 Ultra was “designed specifically with customers from emerging markets in China, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia Pacific rim in mind.“ The device is available in other countries including Singapore, India, Malaysia and Russia and other emerging markets but UK is not on the list anymore.

Many are of the view that non-appearance of Xperia T2 Ultra in the UK will not be a big issue as there are other Sony Xperia options available. There is a feeling among consumers that Xperia T2 Ultra’s price is quite high. Some unfavorable reviews and dissatisfaction among consumers have also been reported.
