From past, Android team of Google has been updating people around globe with the popularity and unpopularity of different versions of Android and recently it has released its status for January.
According to status, it cannot be said that much has improved since the last update of December; however, it is noticed that share of KitKat has rose from 33.9% to 39.1%, but still Android 5.0 Lollipop cannot be found anywhere.
Versions which are adopted at less than 0.1% are not included in the list of Google. So it can be assumed that this is the reason why Lollipop has not made the cut.
KitKat is gaining quite steam, but it should be kept in mind that majority 46% users of Android are still running different versions of Jelly Bean, which was released about two and a half year before..
The users which remained are divided between Android 2.2 Froyo (0.4%), 2.3 Gingerbread (7.8%), and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (6.7%).
The above results are quite disappointing as no Lollipop has been included in the list; Google efforts to provide separate updates and services to the Android users from core through Play Store so they don’t have to wait for OTA updates but many of the users don’t have the information about it.
The user, however, are still getting the benefit from the updates via Play Store even though they don’t have a clue about it. But this whole situation is heading towards the issue of perception and we are optimistic that solution will be available soon.
