Micromax Ventures Into Windows Phone, unveils Canvas W121 and W092

Micromax unveiled their first devices powered by the latest Windows 8.1 operating system as the domestic handset manufacturer charts the next phase of growth to become the country’s largest smartphone player. Ranked number two in India, Micromax has so far sold smartphones supported by Google’s Android OS. Windows Phone operating system has become a striking preference for mobile makers since Microsoft made Windows OS free for devices under 9″.


Micromax is much popular with its affordable Android smartphones across India and now it is reaching out to the Windows Phone fans as well. The country-based firm introduced Canvas Win W121 and Canvas Win W092 priced at Rs. 9,500($158) and Rs. 6,500($108) , respectively. Both dual-sim handsets will be available from next month.


 


Micromax Canvas Win W121:

While both devices run Windows Phone 8.1, the Micromax Canvas Win W121 features a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory with a microSD card slot and a dual-sIM support. It sports  a  5-inch 720p IPS display with an 8 megapixel rear camera (and LED flash) and 2 megapixel front facing camera. All that, and it comes with a faux-leather finished back panel.


 


Micromax Canvas Win W092:

The Micromax Canvas Win W092 is the more affordable option, with the same 1.2 Ghz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, 1 GB RAM and 8GB internal memory with a microSD card slot,Dual-SIM support, and a 1500 mAh battery. However,its screen is only a 4-inch WVGA one,while the cameras aren’t on par with what the Win W121 is offering: 5MP rear(with LED display), and VGA on the front.It’s major competitors are the Lumia 520 and Lumia 525 which are available in a similar price range.
