Recent iPhone 6 mock-up showing two sizes and gold variant

Apple’s iPhone 6 has leaked quite a bit now, as its September announcement date nears. The latest photos showing the device coming in two different sizes and various colours including gold. Based on the snapshots here, and previous leaks, we can expect a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 which will come in various colours including gold. It will also be considerably thinner than previous iPhones.

These photos also shows a 5.5-inch iPhone 6 which would make this Apple’s first iPhone to come in more than one size. The upcoming iPhone 6 duo has seen its power/lock key move from top of the device to its right side in order to accommodate the larger display. The LED flash of the main snapper also has different design that the current setup.

This leak is particularly reliable as it comes from Sonny Dickson, the same Australian blogger who leaked last year’s iPhone 5S. He was also the first to aspect images of the iPhone 5s’s fingerprint scanner. Though wary about exactly how he came across these images, he has told Reuters that he has five to ten sources in China who buy prototype parts from assembly-line workers for between $250 and $500, and then send him photos and videos. The colourful plastic cases of the iPhone 5c were featured on Dickson’s website a month before Apple revealed them and, just as Dickson promised, the iPhone 5s was released last month in silver, “space grey” and gold.

With the market now split when it comes to size needs, clearly shown by the introduction of mini devices, Apple may at last be joining the tech giant’s Android rivals Samsung and HTC. Apple is expected to release the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 around September of 2014, while the 5.5-inch version may come later.
