It looks like LG is all set to soon launch a Snapdragon 805 variant of the G3, dubbed the G3 Prime, even though the former is yet to go on sale across the major markets of the world.
Recently a device with the model number LG-F460S has received the neccessary certification from the Bluetooth SIG before it can go on sale. According to the certification documents of Bluetooth SIG, the Snapdragon 805 powered handset from LG carries the model number F460S, which matches perfectly with what we have been hearing about for the new LG G3 Prime.
This new high end version of the LG G3 is said to come with a number of upgrades over the existing model. It will feature the same 5.5 inch QHD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, a 13 MP rear camera and a 2.1 MP front facing camera as the LG G3, but will get a faster processor and more.
The LG G3 Prime is said to come with a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, plus an Adreno 420 GPU and 3GB of RAM.The handset will also come with faster LTE in the form of LTE-Advanced, this will offer download speed of up to 225Mbps.
If you are planning on buying an LG G3, don’t worry about this upcoming ‘Prime’ variant of the handset. Chances are LG would only be releasing the Snapdragon 805 powered variant of the G3 in its home market (South Korea) similar to Samsung pulling out Galaxy S5 LTE-A recently. The mobile manufacturers are taking advantage of the faster (225Mbps) download speed offered by the operators there.
