Sony Xperia Z3 Compact goes official

Sony Mobile Communications unveiled the Xperia Z3 Compact, the mini-variant of its newly introduced Xperia Z3 flagship at IFA 2014. It is the newest 4.6-inch flagship by Sony that is smaller only in size, but not in performance power. It is having rounded liquid reflection frame, featuring tempered glass panels for an good-looking, premium finish. 

The single-SIM Sony Xperia Z3 Compact features a 4.6-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) Triluminos display, which have a significantly wider colour gamuts than competing LCDs. It is powered by a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC with Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM. It packs a similar 20.7-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 1/2.3”  Exmor RS sensor, apart from a 2.2-megapixel front facing selfie camera, just like the Xperia Z3.

The internal storage on the smartphone is 16GB, which can be expanded via microSD card (up to 128GB). The Xperia Z3 Compact packs 2600mAh battery which is rated to deliver up to 14 hours of talk time and 920 hours of standby time.

The smartphone also features PS4 Remote Play, which allows users to stream their PS4 games onto the smartphone over the home Wi-Fi network  – this functionality will only be rolled out in November. A DualShock 4 Wireless Controller and GCM10 Game Control Mount will be required to play games.

The Xperia Z3 Compact features IP65/IP68 ratings for dust-proof and waterproof certification. This means you can submerge your phone in fresh water of up to 5 feet (1.5m) for as long as 30 minutes without harming it. It comes in a range of color variants as well: you can obtain it in orange, green, white, and black.

Sony Mobile Communications have not yet unveiled the price for the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, but we do make out that its release date will happen by the end of Autumn 2014.
