Sony’s new Xperia Z3 commercials take viewers on a journey of gliding lights to “Demand Great”

As Sony’s two smartphones Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact are  slowly being launched across the world, the company has unleashed a TV and digital campaign under which it has released two new commercials. The commercials have been posted by the company on its YouTube channel and have the tagline, “Don’t settle for good. Demand great.”

The ads are visually stunning showing snowboarders gliding on the slopes wearing illuminated clothes. The song used in the commercials is “Nightcall” by the British group London Grammar. The first ad is called the “Gliding Lights” that shows us how the Sony Xperia Z3 smartphones can take, “Incredible photos even in low light.”

The second as is called “The Journey” in which the waterproof feature of the Xperia Z3 is highlighted when the user dunks the phone in water to take the photo of a colorful fish. The ad also shows that the phone takes superior photos even in low light, has PlayStation4 Remote Play and up to two days battery life.

According to Louise Forbes, Sony’s director of product marketing, the ad campaign will showcase short films that “feature inspirational stories of real life people using their Xperia Z3 to achieve greatness.”

The Xperia Z3 family smartphones are already available in a few select markets but the company is still to launch them in the US. Sony is holding a “Demand Great” media event in New York City, US on October 9.

Sony Xperia Z3 and Sony Xperia Z3 Compact now available in India

The twin brothers Sony Xperia Z3 and Sony Xperia Z3 Compact phones finally arrived in India conferring to the schedule for their release. They are priced at Rs. 51990 and Rs. 44990 respectively. The Two 4G LTE-enabled smartphones from Japanese OPEM arrive with IP65/68-certified which are designed for water and dust resistance.

Z3 Compact features small version with a 4.6-inch touchscreen of HD resolution and when compared to a 5.2-inch display and delivers visuals in full HD. Android OS KitKat is used on both the phones and they share their key features.

Both the phones have sports 20.7 MP main cameras on their back panels and 2.2MP lenses in front of the phone. The hardware of both the phones is equipped with 2.5 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor.

Sony Xperia Z3 smartphone has a memory space of 3 GB of RAM and up to 128GB expandability with internal memory of 16GB. On the other hand, Sony Xperia Z2 features the same internal memory of 16 GB and has a memory space of 2GB RAM with 64GB microSD card support.

PS4 Games can easily be streamed onto these handsets because of the remote play functionality heading their way soon.

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact smartphone key specs are 4.6 inch 720p resolution screen, 20.7 MP and 2.2 cameras. The hardware is powered by 2.5GHZ quad core Snapdragon 801 chip and runs on 2600mAh battery. The phone sports Android 4.4 KitKat OS.

Similarly Sony Xperia Z3 smartphone key specs are 5.2-inch 1080p resolution screen, 20.7 MP and 2.2 cameras. The hardware is powered by 2.5GHZ quad core Snapdragon 801 chip and runs on 3100mAh battery. The phone sports Android 4.4 KitKat OS.

The two phones Sony Xperia Z3 and Sony Xperia Z3 Compact will be available for Rs. 51990 and Rs. 44990 respectively.

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact goes official

Sony Mobile Communications unveiled the Xperia Z3 Compact, the mini-variant of its newly introduced Xperia Z3 flagship at IFA 2014. It is the newest 4.6-inch flagship by Sony that is smaller only in size, but not in performance power. It is having rounded liquid reflection frame, featuring tempered glass panels for an good-looking, premium finish. 

The single-SIM Sony Xperia Z3 Compact features a 4.6-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) Triluminos display, which have a significantly wider colour gamuts than competing LCDs. It is powered by a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC with Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM. It packs a similar 20.7-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 1/2.3”  Exmor RS sensor, apart from a 2.2-megapixel front facing selfie camera, just like the Xperia Z3.

The internal storage on the smartphone is 16GB, which can be expanded via microSD card (up to 128GB). The Xperia Z3 Compact packs 2600mAh battery which is rated to deliver up to 14 hours of talk time and 920 hours of standby time.

The smartphone also features PS4 Remote Play, which allows users to stream their PS4 games onto the smartphone over the home Wi-Fi network  – this functionality will only be rolled out in November. A DualShock 4 Wireless Controller and GCM10 Game Control Mount will be required to play games.

The Xperia Z3 Compact features IP65/IP68 ratings for dust-proof and waterproof certification. This means you can submerge your phone in fresh water of up to 5 feet (1.5m) for as long as 30 minutes without harming it. It comes in a range of color variants as well: you can obtain it in orange, green, white, and black.

“At Sony Mobile, ‘flagship’ now means offering a choice to consumers of enjoying a large screen Xperia Z3 for immersive entertainment or a more compact, lighter Xperia Z3 Compact that doesn’t ask you to compromise on features,” commented bySony Mobile Communications CEO Kunimasa Suzuki on the Xperia Z3 Compact.

Sony Mobile Communications have not yet unveiled the price for the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, but we do make out that its release date will happen by the end of Autumn 2014.

The new Sony Xperia Z3 Compact pictures have leaked again in different websites showing you the close pictures of the camera that is on the center of the back side. Moreover, we have the focused pictures of the 20.7 mega pixels camera on phone’s back side. Moreover, the pictures are taken from different positions and Sony Xperia Z3 is showing full size with its USB ports and microSD differences.

The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact pictures are also showing the clear view that both the USB port and microSD port will be under one flat cover. Moreover, it will come with 3.5 inch headphone jack and dedicated camera button for quick capturing. A clear plastic cover is used on the enclosed in order to protect the Smartphone.

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact Camera Picture Leaks Again

As the IFA 2014 is drawing nearer, rumors and leaks about the gadgets that are expected to be unveiled there by various companies are gaining momentum. Sony is holding a press conference on September 3, just before the IFA. We have already had lots of leaks regarding the Xperia Z3 and its compact version. However, this is the first time we are hearing about their dimensions.

CAD drawings showing the dimensions of the two upcoming Sony smartphones Xperia Z3 and the Xperia Z3 Compact have been leaked online.

According to the drawings, Sony Xperia Z3, the larger of the two has the dimensions of 146.46 x 72.09 x 7.3 mm. This means it has a length of 146.46 mm, a breadth of 72.09 mm and a thickness of 7.3 mm making it a little smaller in overall size in comparison to Xperia Z2 that has the dimensions of 146.8 x 73.3 x 8.2 mm.

Sony Xperia Z3 is expected to have a 5.15-inch 1080 pixels Full HD display with a 2.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and Adreno 330 GPU, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 20.7MP primary camera and a 2.1MP front facing camera.

The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact has the length of 126.98 mm and the breadth of 64.9 mm which is the same as its predecessor, the Xperia Z1 Compact. Measurement of its thickness is not available in the drawing.

The Xperia Z3 Compact is rumored to sport a 4.6-inch 1080 pixels (478ppi) Full HD display. Other specs are supposed to be the same as that of the Xperia Z3.

The actual picture will hopefully emerge at the IFA 2014 when both the smartphones are expected to be unveiled by Sony. Excited?

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact images revealed in a new leak

We have earlier seen leaked images supposed to be those of the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact. Later more pics of the Xperia Z3 emerged. This time the Sony Xperia images leaked are alleged to be those of the Xperia Z3 Compact. If we compare earlier images of the Xperia Z3 Compact with the images leaked now, both appear different. The front-facing camera in the two images is at different positions. We can’t say which image is the correct one.

As for Sony, it has not revealed whether it is going to bring out the compact version of its current flagship the Xperia Z2. Seems like it will directly jump to the upcoming flagship Xperia Z3’s mini version, the Xperia Z3 Compact.  The Japanese mobile maker is hosting a press conference on September 3, a couple of days before the IFA begins. The company might announce its new Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact at the time. IFA 2014 is to be held from September 5 to September 10 in Berlin, Germany.

The Xperia Z3 Compact will reportedly feature a 4.6-inch 1080p screen, 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and Adreno GPU, 3GB RAM, 20.7MP rear camera and 2.1MP front-facing camera. The leaked images have a rectangular frame similar to that of others in the Xperia Z series, with big top and bottom bezels and slim sides.

Sony Xperia Z3 and Sony Xperia Z3 Compact to hit the shelves in September?

Since Sony is now in the habit of releasing one flagship phone every half year and since the second half of 2014 has already begun, fans are eagerly expecting the Japanese manufacturer to announce its next in the Xperia Z series. The Xperia Z3 and along with it, the Xperia Z3 Compact, successor to the Xperia Z1 Compact, may be unveiled any time now, probably during the IFA 2014 to be held in Berlin, Germany during September 5 to 10.

There have been several rumors and leaks about both the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact regarding metal frame, certification, images, About screen etc. Now another leak has emerged which points to the September availability of both the devices.

Although there is no official statement, an internal document from the Vodafone Germany stores mentions about a raffle to be held and those getting maximum points from 01 July to 30 September 2014 will win a trip to New York on Black Friday. There are a string of smartphones mentioned and the points that will be obtained from them.

And also mentioned in the list are… hold your breath… Sony Xperia Z3 and Sony Xperia Z3 Compact and both will fetch 1.5 points each as you can see for yourself in the picture:

 

Point worth noting is that the raffle competition ends on 30 September2014 and since both Sony Xperia Z3 and Sony Xperia Z3 Compact are included in the list, it stands to reason that both the handsets must be available in the stores for purchase before 30 September.

In view of this, there are two possibilities. Either the two smartphones will be announced at the IFA in early September and will go on sale soon after within 2 to 3 weeks or they may be unveiled before the IFA and then released in the stores, as the contest has already begun on July 1 according to the picture. Of course it is possible that the document in question is not genuine.
