Sony tipped to launch two high-end smartphones Xperia S60 and Xperia S70 soon

Earlier this month we had heard rumors that Sony would be unveiling its next flagship, the Xperia Z5 in September. Fresh rumors out of Germany now suggest that the Japanese electronics giant is planning to introduce two new high-end Android handsets around the time too.

The German website winfuture.de reports that the two new Android smartphones are Xperia S60 and Xperia S70 which Sony will be releasing before the IFA conference in Berlin. According to the report, the dealers say that these two devices will be available across Europe as early as mid-August, and one even named August 18 as the date of delivery.

The Xperia S60 and Xperia S70 will mark the beginning of a new series of smartphones from Sony, the ‘S’ series.  Very few details of the handsets are available as of now except that they will have 32 Gigabytes of internal memory. They will be available in four color options each. The Xperia S60 will come in black, white, yellow and coralie flavors while the Xperia S70 will be available in black, white, gold and green variants.

As for their price, both the Xperia S60 and Xperia S70 are said to be absolutely high-end with the Xperia S60 costing somewhere between €650 and €700 ($715 and $770) and the Xperia S70 ranging between €780 and €840 ($855 and $925). However, there is no official confirmation about these devices so better to take it with a pinch of salt.

Sony Announces An Advance Fitness Band "SmartBand Talk" At IFA

Sony Announces The SmartBand Talk At IFA

New Xperia Line has already been announced by Sony but that’s not all the company has saved for IFA and there is much more. Sony has recently unveiled it SmartBand Talk wearable which is capable of tracking everyday activity along with the call handling and smartphone controlling. What’s best is that the device is capable of controlling the phone with the voice control and Sony has integrated its very own Voice Control technology in it.

“We’re going beyond mere fitness tracking and number crunching, to help you log and preserve those emotional moments that matter,” said President and CEO of Sony Mobile Communications, Kunimasa Suzuki. “As a pioneer of smart and wearable technology, SmartBand Talk, SmartWatch 3 and Lifelog don’t merely affirm Sony’s leadership in the space, but as the innovators who dare to be different – bringing the world choice; products and services no else can, or will”.

The SmartBand Talk can be detached from its core which has been made from silicon. It weighs only 26 grams. The device has 1.4” e-paper display with 288×128 resolution. A 70mAh lithium-polymer battery helps to keep running the device’s ARM Cortex-M4 processor and internal memory of 2MB. The battery power might seem less at a glance but for the e-paper display, it is enough to keep the device running for three days. Bluetooth and NFC are the connectivity options of the device; it can be connected to any smartphone having the Android 4.4 or above. Also the band is IP68 certified which makes it water and dust proof.

This new Sony device utilizes Sony’s Lifelog app for Android which has been created to “Set and achieve your goals, bookmark memorable moments and revisit forgotten memories anytime, anywhere”.

Later this year, the third-party developers will be able to get the API of the app. The SmartBand Talk will be available in October with the price tag of €159.

Asus Teases Its Zenwatch Launch For September 3

ASUS took to their Facebook page to share a little sketched glimpse of their upcoming Zenwatch, a smartwatch to be launched at IFA in Berlin on 3rd September.

The image tells a few aspects to the smartwatch that are of little surprise at this stage. We can expect at least a partial metal build while terms like ‘sand blasted’ and ‘polish’ imply a raw metal look with a premium metal feel, but that is perhaps a stretch for this simple drawing.

Perhaps the best feature to the new ASUS Zenwatch will be the curvature to the device. Devices like the LG G Watch come with a flat back, leaving the unit to protrude uncomfortably for users with smaller wrists. The curvature of the ASUS watch should make for a more comfortable fit for users of any wrist size.

These truly are exciting times for wearables of the smartwatch variants. LG has been teasing their new smartwatch, only just recently releasing a video that confirms it will have a rounded watch face. Motorola’s long awaited Moto 360 is expected to launch the day after ASUS as well. Best Buy accidentally went live with their listing of the Moto 360 last week, they quickly took the Moto 360 back down, but not before we got all the specs and learned that it would sell for $250.

We are eagerly awaiting some solid specs and pricing information for the ASUS Zenwatch. We have been hearing rumors of ASUS keeping their Android Wear powered offering priced well below that of the competition, with conversation heading as low as $100. Certainly $100 would be a attraction that many users could afford to take the plunge into wearables, but we’ll have to wait to see.

Stay tuned, IFA is looking like it will bring a ton of new devices to marketplace, and we plan to be there to bring you all the details. Are these teaser snapshots getting you excited for ASUS’ new Zenwatch?

LG G Watch 2 May Make Its Appearance In IFA

It has not been more than two months that LG has launched its LG G Watch but according to a new report, the world will soon see the LG G Watch 2. Korea Times reported that the next wearable from LG is ready to make its appearance in the IFA which will start on September 5 in Berlin and will end on September 10.

LG G Watch 2 May Make Its Appearance In IFA

According to the report of Korea Times, LG official said that the company has started to put forward the new smartwatch alongside Google’s wearable platform. The upgraded watch would make its appearance in IFA fair.

There is very limited information about the watch features. This new LG wearable is said to have an OLED display. This display would not be similar to the current G watch display which is IPS LCD display.

It has also been said that the new watch could have a Qualcomm processor. In future, LG planned to have the company’s own Odin processors in its devices. For other things, nothing more is known.

It is said that LG G Watch 2 will compete against vapor iWatch, which is unsurprising. It is also not known that who will get the chance to see the watch; clients only or general public can also see it. According to the LG official, LG Electronics has received too many offers for strategic collaboration from the authoritative watchmakers. So it can be expected that LG could only show the watch to the clients for the partnership. We have only few days left to know what is surely going to happen.

Samsung Gear Glass to be unveiled at IFA 2014, alongside Note 4

Samsung is expected to wrap off Galaxy Note 4 with a Google Glass competitor. According to the Korean publication report, Samsung is gearing up to roll out “Gear Glass” in time for Europe’s biggest electronics fair IFA 2014, which is to be held Sept. 5-10 this year in Berlin, Germany. The IFA show is a venue that Samsung had used in the past to showcase its Galaxy Note series.Already released a handful of wrist-worn gadgets since the original Galaxy Gear débuted alongside the Note 3 back at last year’s IFA, it now looks as though the company will use the Berlin trade show to announce another brand-new wearable.

The Samsung associate stated that they have rolled out the smartwatch first and have a considerable amount of smart glass-related technology and patents.Following the roll out of their smart watch Galaxy Gear in September last year, they are slated to introduce a smart glass Gear Glass this September. The report noted that the name “Glass Gear” is missing the usual “Galaxy” branding which may reflect Samsung’s ambition to groom it to be its flagship wearable device.

The Gear Glass design combines an ear piece and display, enabling people to listen to music with the right ear while looking at the display with the right eye. Gear Glass is expected to run the Tizen Operating System similar to Samsung’s recently updated smartwatches, like the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, and the Gear Fit.

Google Glass is still in its early stages. This week, Google started selling it to the public, but it still costs $1,500. Will Google try to convince Samsung to adopt the Android OS prior to Glass Gear debuts this fall or is Samsung hell bent on finally breaking away from Google’s shadow?
