Behold for the first ever smart earring! Yes, thanks to the initiative of the Canadian company, BioSensitive Technologies, fitness trackers might be just as fashionable as an ordinary jewelry in the coming days. The Ear-o-Smart is a subject of kickstarter crowdfunding campaign and if all goes well, the first earring fitness tracker will hit the market by June 2015.

 

This innovation was founded by the belief that wearable electronics should be unified with one’s lifestyle. It looks like an ordinary earring from outside perspective but it is able to record heart rate, calories and activity level. It is also able to provide live data once connected via Bluetooth 4.0 iOS and Android smartphones.

The earring will primarily be shipped with a standard white design, but it will also be available in DIY kit, which would certainly make women want this wearable technology.

Right now the top fitness trackers are Garmin Vivosmart, Basis Peak, Microsoft Band, Moov, Jawbone Up24, TomTom Runner Cardio, Samsung Gear Fit, Jawbone Up Move and a lot more. All these have one thing in common, they all come in the shape of a band or watch. The competition is a little tight on top and Biosensitive Technologies certainly did find a way a shortcut to the top. Although it might be a struggle that the product targets women exclusively. Along with that, the running out of electronic materials that would fit into a small accessory is also a major difficulty.

Sony Announces An Advance Fitness Band "SmartBand Talk" At IFA

New Xperia Line has already been announced by Sony but that’s not all the company has saved for IFA and there is much more. Sony has recently unveiled it SmartBand Talk wearable which is capable of tracking everyday activity along with the call handling and smartphone controlling. What’s best is that the device is capable of controlling the phone with the voice control and Sony has integrated its very own Voice Control technology in it.

“We’re going beyond mere fitness tracking and number crunching, to help you log and preserve those emotional moments that matter,” said President and CEO of Sony Mobile Communications, Kunimasa Suzuki. “As a pioneer of smart and wearable technology, SmartBand Talk, SmartWatch 3 and Lifelog don’t merely affirm Sony’s leadership in the space, but as the innovators who dare to be different – bringing the world choice; products and services no else can, or will”.

The SmartBand Talk can be detached from its core which has been made from silicon. It weighs only 26 grams. The device has 1.4” e-paper display with 288×128 resolution. A 70mAh lithium-polymer battery helps to keep running the device’s ARM Cortex-M4 processor and internal memory of 2MB. The battery power might seem less at a glance but for the e-paper display, it is enough to keep the device running for three days. Bluetooth and NFC are the connectivity options of the device; it can be connected to any smartphone having the Android 4.4 or above. Also the band is IP68 certified which makes it water and dust proof.

This new Sony device utilizes Sony’s Lifelog app for Android which has been created to “Set and achieve your goals, bookmark memorable moments and revisit forgotten memories anytime, anywhere”.

Later this year, the third-party developers will be able to get the API of the app. The SmartBand Talk will be available in October with the price tag of €159.

LG G Watch 2 May Make Its Appearance In IFA

It has not been more than two months that LG has launched its LG G Watch but according to a new report, the world will soon see the LG G Watch 2. Korea Times reported that the next wearable from LG is ready to make its appearance in the IFA which will start on September 5 in Berlin and will end on September 10.

According to the report of Korea Times, LG official said that the company has started to put forward the new smartwatch alongside Google’s wearable platform. The upgraded watch would make its appearance in IFA fair.

There is very limited information about the watch features. This new LG wearable is said to have an OLED display. This display would not be similar to the current G watch display which is IPS LCD display.

It has also been said that the new watch could have a Qualcomm processor. In future, LG planned to have the company’s own Odin processors in its devices. For other things, nothing more is known.

It is said that LG G Watch 2 will compete against vapor iWatch, which is unsurprising. It is also not known that who will get the chance to see the watch; clients only or general public can also see it. According to the LG official, LG Electronics has received too many offers for strategic collaboration from the authoritative watchmakers. So it can be expected that LG could only show the watch to the clients for the partnership. We have only few days left to know what is surely going to happen.

Samsung"s First Android Wear-Based Smartwatch Could be Announced at Google I/O

According to some reports, Samsung is expected to unwrap its first smartwatch based on the Android Wear operating system at the Google I/O conference this week. Android Wear is an operating system by Google crafted specifically for smartwatches and other wearbles and was first unveiled in March this year.

Samsung is reported to be one of the first gadget manufactures to introduce a smartwatch based on the operating system. Even though there have been no official statements from Samsung about the release or announcement of the smartwatch or it’s specs, it is expected to have very much similar features with that of the previous Samsung wearables.

According to a report on CNET, “Samsung has been working on an Android Wear smartwatch that uses Samsung’s own chips, as well as another model built off of processors from Qualcomm, one person said. It’s unclear which version Samsung will show at Google I/O. Android Wear is Google’s operating system for smartwatches and other wearable devices.”

Samsung’s first version of smartwatch was the Galaxy Gear and run Android operating system. But it consumed too much battery. Therefore, Samsung switched from Android to it’s own operating system called the Tizen on it’s subsequent releases of smartwatches i.e. the Gear 2 Neo and the Gear Fit.

According to reports, LG and Motorolla are also companies that are expected to reveal their first smartwatches based on the Android Wear operating system at the conference.

Google I/O is a two days’ developer conference in San Fransisco. Starting from the year 2008, it has been held annually and this year’s conference will be held from June 25th to June 26th.
