Samsung Display is a leading manufacturer of OLED display panels and a majority of them are used in Samsung’s mobile devices. Since Samsung’s mobile devices business has gone down in recent years, the performance of Samsung Display has also been affected and it is now looking towards other customers for its OLED displays.

A recent report by MK News, a South Korean daily news publication says that Samsung has started supplying OLED smartphone displays to Huawei. Although the first consignment is small, their quantity is expected to increase after Huawei has tested them. Samsung has also supplied OLED display panels to other Chinese smartphone manufacturers such as Meizu, Vivo, OPPO and Gionee.

Supplying OLED panels to Huawei would be beneficial to Samsung Display as Huawei is the world’s fourth largest manufacturer of smartphones and it has a wide market spreading even to some European countries and the US.

Although the report doesn’t mention it, the new Huawei Nexus will most likely sport Samsung’s OLED display. A few months back there was a rumor that the Huawei-made Nexus will feature a 5.7-inch 2K OLED display and this display might very well be supplied by Samsung. Huawei might also use the displays for its other upcoming smartphones.

As readers must already be aware, Google is expected to launch two Nexus devices this year. While LG would be making the smaller device which would be the new version of the Nexus 5, Huawei will manufacture the larger 5.7-inch phablet having an OLED display panel with 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus pictures leak via case maker Spigen

Leaks and rumors about the specs and accessories of the much talked about upcoming Samsung Duo the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and the Galaxy Note 5 continue to flow in. After showing us the images for various cases for the Galaxy Note 5 a few days back, the smartphone case maker Spigen has now revealed protective cases for the Galaxy S6 Edge+ on its website.

The renders of Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 displayed by Spigen on its product pages confirm the leaks and press renders we have seen till now, so no surprises there. The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will be a bigger version of the Galaxy S6 Edge having a 5.7-inch Quad HD curved display. The Galaxy S6 Edge has a 5.1-inch QHD panel.

Leaked specs suggest the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset and a 3,000mAh battery. Its dimensions will be 154.4mm x 75.8mm x 6.9mm and it will not come with a Stylus like the Galaxy Note 5.

Cases for both the devices will be shipped from September 30, so both the handsets are expected to be available in the market before that. Samsung is holding its Unpacked 2015 event August 13 when the South Korean company is expected to announce the two above mentioned handsets.

Samsung’s thinnest smartphone Galaxy A8 with fingerprint sensor launched in India

Samsung has launched Galaxy A8 smartphone in India with a price tag of INR 32,500 (About $508). The device was first introduced in China in the middle of July. This latest handset from Samsung is its thinnest-ever smartphone with a thickness of just 5.9mm and it weighs only 151 grams.

The Galaxy A8 features a 5.7-inch FHD Super AMOLED display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and 386ppi pixel density. It is powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 5430 chipset with octa-core (4 x 1.8GHz Cortex-A15 and 4 x 1.3GHz Cortex-A7) CPU and Mali-T628 MP6 GPU for graphics. The Galaxy A8 model that was launched last month in China has 64-bit Snapdragon 615 SoC with octa-core 1.5GHz CPU and Adreno 405 GPU. There is a 2GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage inside. It can be expanded up to 128GB with a microSD card.

Coming to the cameras, the Galaxy A8 has a 16MP autofocus rear camera with f/1.9 aperture to give great pictures even in low light conditions. The front camera is of 5MP with 120 degree wide-angle lens, useful for selfies and video chats. Its 3050mAh battery takes care of the power and the handset comes with Android Lollipop 5.1.1 out of the box with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top. The handset sports dual Nano-SIM slots and the second slot can be used for microSD card.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 has very thin metal side bezels. It also has a fingerprint sensor doubling as a home button. Connectivity options include LTE with Band 40 (2300MHz) and Band 3 (1800MHz) support, dual band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and Glonass. The handset will support 4G networks in India. Airtel customers will get double data for free for 6 months along with this device. The handset is available in Black, White and Gold colors.

Samsung Confirmed Rotative Circular Dial Feature for Smartwatch

Earlier today, Samsung has released an official announcement regarding the new feature for the smartwatch OS in the company’s Tizen Developer Summit 2015 in Bangalore. The OS which is known as the Tizen OS will be implemented for the smartwatch which built with a round bezel ring surrounding the product’s display screen. Therefore, by using this ring, users will be able to navigate through the apps by rotating it.

Tizen OS is Samsung’s open source OS for smartwatch especially those which is built to have a rounded display screen size. However, the company did not mention specifically that it is for the upcoming Gear A smartwatch or any other product. Gear A smartwatch will be Samsung’s first smartwatch with round display screen size and it is most probably going to have that feature.

On top of that, the device is also rumored to come with a dual-core Exynos processor, a 768MB RAM, a 4GB internal storage and a 250mAh battery size. Other features such as display resolution of 360 x 360, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi as well as 2G cellular connectivity.

A recent rumors also mentioned that Gear A smartwatch will also have Samsung Pay capabilities but with limited functionality. There is no confirmation from Samsung regarding the specification so far but Samsung will officially showcase the device on August 13 in the Samsung’s event.

Samsung has announced recently that the company will be holding a special event on Aug 13 in New York City. Apart from showcasing Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+, it seems that Samsung is also going to showcase Samsung Gear A smartwatch.

There is not much detail released on Samsung Gear A smartwatch, however, it seems like the device will come with limited Samsung Pay capability. On top of that, the smartwatch will have a 1.65-inch curved Super AMOLED display with resolution of 360 x 360 pixels. Other features such as a heart rate monitor, GPS, Wi-FI and Bluetooth are also integrated on the device. There is also rumor surfaced recently mentioning that the smartwatch will have a cellular connectivity feature and the users will have to rotate the frame of the device’s screen in order to navigate through the menu.

As for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, it is rumored that the tablets will be powered by Exynos chipset, Samsung’s own SoC and a 4GB of RAM. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+, on the other hand, is rumored to be powered by Exynos 7420 SoC and a 3GB of RAM as well as storage option of 64GB.

Samsung introduces world’s first monitor that can wirelessly charge a mobile

Samsung Electronics has announced world’s first monitor, the SE370, that has integrated wireless charging dock which can charge a smartphone wirelessly. All mobile devices compatible with the the Qi wireless charging technology can be charged with this monitor.

Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are the first Samsung have wireless charging capabilities. The upcoming Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5 are also expected to pack this wireless charging technology.  These devices can now be charged through the new SE370 monitors wirelessly. In fact even smartphones of other companies that are compatible with the Qi technology can be charged with this monitor.

The wireless charging technology has been integrated into the stand of the SE370 monitor. Your smartphone can be charged by simply placing it on the charging area of the stand. The charging starts automatically and is indicated by an LED light. Two models of the monitor offer this facility – the 27-inch S27E370DS and the 23.6-inch S24E370DL.

Both the monitors have a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels and feature a PLS panel, 178 degree wide viewing angle, up to 300 cd/m2 of brightness, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 4ms response time and AMD FreeSync technology offering the user an improved viewing experience. They have HDMI, DP and D-Sub ports.

With the added wireless charging capabilities of the monitors, you can say goodbye to cables and ports resulting in a clutter-free work area. It will also save you the hassle and cost of maintaining a separate charging kit.

Samsung hasn’t provided any details about the pricing and availability of the two monitors but it is hoped that we will hear more about them at the IFA to be held in Berlin in early September.

SAMSUNG Galaxy Unpacked 2015 confirmed for August 13, Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus maybe announced

Samsung has traditionally been announcing its important new devices at its Unpacked events. So be ready to mark August 13th on your calendars. Samsung has officially confirmed that it is holding the new Unpacked 2015 event on this day in New York City and you will be able to see its “Next Big Things”.

Samsung hasn’t announced any details about the event or what new it would be showing us then.   But if rumors are to be believed, August 13 is the day when Samsung introduces two new devices Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. The invitation sent out by the company for the Unpacked 2015 event is given below. The image in the invite suggests that the new handset to be announced will be having a curved display so may be it hints at the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

Photos and specs of both the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus have already leaked online. Both the devices are rumored to come with 5.7-inch 1440 x 2560 pixels Quad HD displays, Exynos 7420 chipsets, 4GB RAMs and 16MP rear cameras. The Note 5 will supposedly sport the S Pen Stylus and the S6 Edge Plus as the name suggests, will have a curved display.

Alleged pictures of Samsung Galaxy S6 Mini leak; Will it release in August too?

Samsung’s latest flagship Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have been hugely successful and it’s another variant, the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is poised to release next month. There is also the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active. Now some pictures alleged to be those of Samsung Galaxy S6 mini, the smaller sibling of Galaxy S6, have leaked.

Many smartphone manufacturers release a mini version of their flagships. The South Korean tech giant had released a mini version of its previous flaghip, the Galaxy S5 Mini last year. Now the mini version of Samsung’s latest flagship, the Galaxy S6 Mini is rumored to be released soon.

PhoneArena has received some pictures purporting to be those of the Galaxy S6 Mini from a loyal reader. Although the image quality is not so good and the photos are a little dark, they show that the mini version has a design similar to its larger sibling, the Samsung Galaxy S6 albeit smaller in size.

The handset has a metal and glass body and its speaker, microUSB port as well as the audio jack also seem to be in the same position as its big brother. Unfortunately, nothing is known about its internal hardware but rumors say that the device will have a 4.6-inch or a 4.7-inch 720p display, 2 GB of RAM, a 15Mp camera and a Snapdragon 808 chipset.

There is no information from Samsung about Galaxy S6 mini in the works but it is speculated that the device may be launched on August 13 when the company will reportedly unveil the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

Rumor Surfaced in Vietnam for Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ to include 4GB RAM

The latest rumor for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ comes from an anonymous source in Vietnam. It mentioned that the device will be coming with 4GB of RAM. There is another rumor that another Samsung product, Galaxy Note 5 will also be coming with 4GB of RAM. If it turns out to be true, then these two phablets will be the first two products from the company which is running with 4GB of RAM.

On top of that Galaxy S6 Edge+ is also rumored to be powered by Snapdragon 808 SoC but the same anonymous source from Vietnam mentioned that the device will be running on Samsung’s own Exynos 7420 chipset instead. Exynos 7420 is the same chipset which is used for the current Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. However, the chipset which is rumored to be used in Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be clocked at a faster speed rate than the 2.1 GHz which is used by the two older models. It is also mentioned that the upcoming device will be featuring a 3000mAh battery.

As there is no official confirmation yet from Samsung and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 will only be officially showcased next month, therefore, it is advisable to take the rumors as rumors. The official specification is normally released closer to the release date.

Rumor Surfaced in Vietnam for Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ to include 4GB RAM

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8-inch and 9.7-inch Launching Next Month

Samsung has officially showcased two new tablets, Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and Galaxy Tab S2 9.7. There are more similarities between the two models than the differences. The differences fall on the display screen of the tablets, the battery size as well as the weight of the devices among other differences. Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 will come with an 8.0 inch display size while Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 is coming with a 9.7-inch display size. For the battery size, Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 is equipped with a 4000mAh while Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 is equipped with a 5870mAh. Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 will be weighed at 265g while Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 will be weighed at 389g.

As for the similarities, both tablets are equipped with a Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1536 x 2018, a 8MP rear camera with a 2.1MP front camera and pre-installed with Android 5.0. On top of that, both of the tablets will come with home button which integrated with fingerprint scanner, multitasking feature which enable users to open two apps at the same time as well as pop-up windows which give users the ability to switch between apps in a faster way. Both models will also be running on an octa-core CPU with four cores running at 1.9GHz and four cores running at 1.3GHz as well as 3GB RAM and either 32GB or 64GB internal storage. There is also a microSD slot which can support up to 128GB additional storage.

Each model will offer either Wi-Fi only connectivity or Wi-Fi and 4G LTE connectivity. The launch date is expected to be somewhere next month and the information regarding the pricing will be released closer to the actual release date. Stay tune to find out more!

Here’s the first live photo of Samsung Galaxy Note 5 test dummy

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is reportedly to be unveiled by the company on August 12 and till now we have been treated to several rumors, leaks and speculations about the look, design, specs, CAD drawings and renderings giving us a pretty good idea about what the upcoming phablet is going to be like. New entrant on the scene is a live photo of the much awaited Galaxy Note 5.

Czech operators have allegedly got their hands on what they claim to be a Galaxy Note 5 test dummy and its picture has made its way to the internet. A test dummy or a testbed is a prototype of the particular device which carries the same internal specs and software which the actual device is going to have. Only thing is that although the final product will have almost the same specs and features, their external design is not the final design of the product.

That is the reason this photo of the alleged Galaxy Note 5 testbed shows a bulky box with sharp square corners, not at all like the elegant design which we have seen in the renders so far. The Note 5 will supposedly look somewhat like the Galaxy S6, made of metal and glass. Specs-wise, the handset is expected to feature a 5.7inch Super AMOLED display, a 7.9mm thick body, its own 64-bit Exynos 7422 SoC, a 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, a 4100mAh battery and the Android Lollipop operating system.

Traditionally, Samsung has been launching its new iteration of Note in early September at the IFA trade show in Berlin. However, this year the company is apparently planning to unveil the new Note 5 much before Apple launches its new iPhone probably in mid-September.

Galaxy Note 5 new renders show it featuring an auto-eject S Pen Stylus

As the launch date of Samsung’s upcoming phablet Galaxy Note 5 draws near, more and more renders and cases are surfacing. Just a few days back we saw some amazing case renders of the handset from the casemaker Verus. We now have some more gorgeous renderings of the Galaxy Note 5 and its cases by Ringke.

Another casemaker Rearth, who makes Ringke brand of phone cases and protectors has posted some renders and cases for the Note 5 on Amazon. These renderings look quite realistic, probably created on the basis of dimensions and drawings they might have got their hands on. The renders present some new information about the S Pen Stylus that will come with the device. Up till now, Samsung devices offered a Stylus that could be removed manually from its slot. New Ringke renders show that the upcoming Galaxy Note 5 handset may possibly have a Stylus with an auto-eject feature.

Some time back, Samsung had filed a patent for an auto-ejecting Stylus with the USPTO and it has also filed another patent recently for a new feature “write on PDF” that will allow you to write on a PDF document with the Stylus and save it as well. It seems that we may see these features in the new Note 5.

In the renders, the S Pen can be seen flush with the side surface of the handset and no way of pulling it out manually. This leads to speculation that the Stylus may have an auto-eject mechanism. However, it should be kept in mind that the renders may not be totally accurate and these features may or may not be present in the actual device when it is launched.

But the interesting fact is that the Ringke cases for the Galaxy Note 5 are up for pre-order on Amazon site at a huge discount, to be “in Stock” on October 30, 2015 with an estimated delivery date of November 2 – 4!

Samsung had announced its mobile payment service Samsung Pay at the MWC 2015 when it unveiled its new flagship Galaxy S6 along with Galaxy S6 edge. However, even after over four months the much awaited Samsung Pay is still nowhere in sight.

Early this month we heard the news that Samsung Pay was in the final phase of testing and Samsung was testing out its mobile payment service in its home market with eight domestic card companies to remove all the kinks before rolling it out in the market. The report also said that the South Korean company was planning to launch this service in September, initially across the US and South Korea followed later in more countries.

The delay could be detrimental for Samsung Pay as Apple Pay is already expanding into Europe and Google Wallet is also going to be refreshed as Android Pay later in the year. Both Apple Pay and Google Wallet use the Near Field Communication (NFC) system which needs an NFC payment terminal at the retail outlet. Samsung Pay has an added advantage as along with NFC, it will also work at the traditional magnetic stripe card readers which are already available at most of the stores.

Now, when consumers are still wondering how Samsung Pay will actually work, Times of India has posted a video giving a hands-on demo of how the payment via Samsung Pay is made. As it turns out, making payment from your Samsung Galaxy phone is downright easy as you can see in the video below.

Once you have stored your credit/debit card/s in your phone, you just have to swipe the home button which will show you your stored cards. Select the one you want to pay with, touch the fingerprint scanner incorporated inside the home button to authenticate it and then put the phone near the NFC or magnetic stripe card reader. Viola, the payment will be made!

Samsung had bought the mobile payment startup LoopPay in February this year for $250 million from where it got the Magnetic stripe card technology. Rumors suggest that Samsung is planning to hold a big event to unveil its new Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ and there’s a chance that the company will launch Samsung Pay then.

Samsung launches Galaxy J5 and J7, its 4G selfie-centric smartphones in India

After being launched in China last month, the next destination of Samsung Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 smartphones is India. As the company had announced earlier, the two selfie-centric handsets were officially launched at an event in New Delhi, India on July 16. Both are mid-range phone with some great specs. The 5-inch Galaxy J5 is priced at INR 11,999 (about $190) and the larger 5.5-inch Galaxy J7 comes with a price tag of INR 14,999 (about $235). Both the smartphones will be available exclusively through online retailer Flipkart from July 24. Pre-booking for the handsets opened from Thursday 4 pm.

Samsung has partnered with Airtel to give introductory double data offer to 4G users for a period of 6 months. The South Korean company is also offering INR 594 ($10) worth of unlimited music download through Wynk Music app for 6 months. Buyers can buy Samsung flip covers worth INR 999 ($16) for only INR 199 ($4) for a limited period as well as free in-app purchase credits worth INR 3,200 ($50) for top titles such as Modern Combat 5, Asphalt 8 etc. on Gameloft.

Coming to the specs, the Samsung Galaxy J5 sports a 5-inch Super AMOLED (720 x 1280 pixels) HD display  and is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 CPU. It has a 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of built-in storage expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. The J5 model launched in China has a TFT LCD display and 16GB of built-in storage. There is a 2600 mAh battery in it offering a standby time of 342 hours.

In the camera department, the Galaxy J5 has a 13MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture, autofocus and LED flash, and a 5MP camera also with LED flash at the front. The handset supports 4G, 3G, Bluetooth v4.1, NFC, GPS, Wi-Fi, Glonass and Micro-USB. The device measures 142 x 73 x 8.5mm and weighs 149g.

The larger Samsung Galaxy J7 has almost similar specs except that it has a larger 5.5-inch screen with same 720 x 1280 pixels resolution but higher 16GB of built-in storage and a bigger 3000 mAh battery offering a standby time of 354 hours. Its dimensions are 152.2 x 79.1 x 7.9mm and it weighs 168g. The Galaxy J7 variant in India will come with a 1.5GHz octa-core Exynos 7580 processor while the model launched in China sports the octa-core Snapdragon 615 chipset.

Both the devices are dual-SIM dual standby and will run Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. Also, both Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 are first such handsets from Samsung to feature LED flash for the front-facing camera. The smartphones will have an anti-smudge anodized CMF coating on them and will be available in three color variants – Gold, Black and White.

Samsung is readying to launch a few new Tizen-based smartphones in the near future. Its first Tizen-powered smartphone Samsung Z1 has done quite well in countries like India and Bangladesh and now it looks like the company is moving ahead with its plans to make new Tizen devices including smartphones. We have already heard rumors that the upcoming Samsung Z3 would be running the Tizen OS.

Now Tizen Cafe, a Korean website, has posted some images of the Samsung Z3 (model no. SM-Z300H and build no. Z300HDDD1BOG1) running Tizen 3.0, on Twitter. Although the Samsung Z3 will supposedly run Tizen 2.4 when it is launched, these images showing the handset running the 3.0 version indicate that the company will probably update the handset’s version from 2.4 to 3.0 soon after launch.

The images show the Samsung Z3 to be a dual SIM smartphone, the screen seems larger that the Z1’s 4-inch display. It is rumored that the Z3 will sport a 5-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. Under the hood it will apparently have a quad-core 1.3 GHz Spreadtrum SC7730S CPU, a 1.5GB RAM, 8GB of internal memory, an 8MP primary camera and a 5MP selfie camera. The handset will be powered by a 2,600 mAh battery. These specs may make Samsung’s Tizen-based Z3 more acceptable to the consumers.

The company may officially announce the Samsung Z3 Tizen Developer Summit to be held at the end of July in Bengaluru, India. So the handset may be made available in India first.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Rumored to Have Same Front Camera as Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is rumored to use the same front camera as Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge which is a wide angle 5MP camera. This is great news as previously, the device was rumored to have a 2MP front camera instead. It seems that Note 5 is designed to be a selfie phone after all.

The front camera that is used in S6 and S6 Edge is proven to be able to take a great quality of pictures even in the low-light environment as well as indoor shooting. On top of that, even the mid-range smartphone which is made by China’s brands also come with at least 5MP front camera, some even come with a 8MP camera. Therefore, this move is not surprising coming from Samsung as the higher end smartphone manufacturer.

We came to know about this rumor as we open up the HTML file for one of the support page for Galaxy S6. It is mentioned that the S6 and S6 edge also compatible with two other phone such as N925 and N920F which is the internal codenames for Galaxy Note 5 variants. With this, hopefully, Samsung will use the same 5MP front camera for the latest phablets too. However, nothing can be confirmed until now. Stay tune to fine out!

Samsung Patented Edge Display Functionality for Galaxy Note Edge and S6 Edge

In addition of a few things that Samsung has applied for patent and they have been approved such as the invisible virtual buttons and the foldable display screen, the latest patent that has been approved by USPTO is something which is known as “Edge Display”. Apparently this new functionality is used to display information such as news, weather, and time, unread messages as well as incoming calls on the curved display on your Galaxy Note Edge and S6 Edge.

Hopefully, Samsung is going to release some APIs for third party apps developers so that more and more apps which support notification functionality can be displayed on the Edge display in the future. As of now, Note Edge has already able to support custom Edge display apps and Galaxy S6 Edge official add-ons are able to be downloaded from Samsung Apps Store. However, not many people does not know about this yet as it is not publicized.

Apps Edge apparently is designed to allow user to organize their mostly used apps as well as allow them to have quick access for them. Therefore, when a new notification comes, the user does not have to pick up the handset in order to view it as it will be shown at the edge of the handset.

Samsung filed patent for a foldable tablet display last year and it was granted on July 7^th.  Last year, Samsung’s CEO hinted that there would be a foldable device and with the patent application granted, it seems to be true after all. Samsung has filed for a foldable screen not only for OLED screen; however, the company has also filed patent for the LCD screen.   According to Samsung, there will be a flexible display panel that is greater than 8-inches in size which means, it falls in the range of Galaxy Tablet product.

Samsung has filed a number of flexible and foldable patents but they have been slow in materialized it. This year, the company realized one of it with the release of Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge which comes with a flexible display. Apple on the other hand, has used flexible display technology on its smart watch. However, it seems that the company is going to use it in a few more applications apart from Apple Watch.

Apart from the flexible display, Samsung is also patented a near invisible virtual buttons which is located near the edge of the touch screen. These virtual buttons are actually sensor pads which can be configured to perform certain actions like taking pictures or as a video game console. One thing for sure, as the R&D departments keep inventing, there should be a patent following that. However, hopefully a few of them can be realized in the real life.

Rumor mills about Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy A series smartphone, the Galaxy A8 have been churning since last about 3 months and by now almost all its features, specs and pricing have been leaked, most of it through the Chinese e-store Sunning. Some more photos of the handset have been leaked by it which were posted by @OnLeaks on its Twitter account.

@OnLeaks had posted two official looking photos of the Galaxy A8 but they have since been removed. The pictures confirm what we already know in terms of specs. The pictures show off its slim frame which gives confirmation to the rumor that this is going to be Samsung’s thinnest smartphone ever with a thickness of 5.9 mm. The images also mention that the device has a 16MP primary camera with a wide f/1.9 aperture and a 3,050 mAh battery.

The Galaxy A8 will sport a 5.7 inches FHD Super AMOLED 1920 x 1080p display with its home button having a fingerprint scanner embedded into it. It is rumored to have an octa-core Snapdragon 615 CPU, a 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory which is expandable, and a 5MP front-facing camera. The handset will run Android 5.1.1 topped with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 will supposedly launch first in China on 17 July with a price tag of €439 or about $483. It is not known whether the handset will be released in other countries and if yes, when.

New Samsung SM-G9198 Flip Phone with Snapdragon 808 Passes through TENAA

A couple of months back, Samsung SM-G9198 featuring a 4.6-inch 768 x 1280p display and a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 was benchmarked at GFXBench. It turns out that this is Sammy’s new flip phone that may be launched in China soon. This SM-G9198 could be the successor to Samsung’s SM-G9098 Android flip phone which the company launched in China last year.

Recently, the same Samsung SM-G9198 has been approved by China’s TENAA (Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center equivalent to US’s FCC)). This new clamshell sports two screens, a 3.91-inch OLED Internal display with 768 x 1280 pixels resolution and an external OLED display also of 3.91-inch and 768 x 1280 pixels resolution. The device is quite heavy, weighing 191 grams and has the dimensions of 119.7 x 66.6 x 16.7 mm when folded.

The new Samsung SM-G9198 handset is powered by hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset clocked at 1.8 GHz. This will probably be the first Samsung smartphone to use this chipset.  Memory options include 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage expandable up to 128GB with microSD card. In the camera department, the device has a 16 MP camera at the back with LED flash and a 5 MP cam at the front.

The Samsung SM-G9198 offers LTE connectivity and runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Like its predecessor, this handset may also be released only in China as flip phones are not that popular in other countries. It is not known when the new flip phone will be launched in China.
