The New Mac Mini 2014 Has A Fixed Amount Of RAM

Its been more than two years since Apple last updated the Mac Mini. Finally, Apple seems to be releasing the 2014 version of its Mac mini computers. This time around there are a few upgrades, but also issues regarding the rumored soldered RAM which some techies are not happy about.

The new Apple Mac Mini has received a Haswell processor, Intel HD 5000 Graphics Card, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and more. These upgrades are all fine with the exception of the non-removable RAM. They have also discontinued dual-drive storage options that can help exceed 1TB of storage capacity.

The rumor that the Mac Mini will come with a soldered RAM has been confirmed by Macminicolo’s Brian Stucki. He says that the RAM in the Mac Mini will not be accessible to users. Simply put, this means that the new Mac Mini will be limited to 16 GB of RAM at most. The only way to upgrade this RAM is to buy a new Mac Mini. According to Brian Stucki, the hard drive is upgradable but doing so may void the warranty.

The Mac Mini is available for purchase starting at $499. It comes in three tiers of specifications.
