Lenovo announces 3rd Gen ThinkPad XI Carbon Ultrabook, new ThinkPads, Monitor and more at CES 2015

The Consumer Electronics Show 2015 at Vegas has begun and electronics giants are busy announcing their new products. Chinese major Lenovo has come forward with announcements introducing several new products and its product plans for the future. The company has unveiled its 3rd generation ThinkPad XI Carbon ultrabook and along with it, some new additions to its ThinkPad X, T, E and L series, a new IPS panel, a power-bank with interlocking design as well as some multiple charging accessories.


Lenovo’s 3rd generation ThinkPad XI Carbon ultrabook is the “world’s lightest 14-inch performance ultrabook”, weighing a little less that 2.9 pounds. This iconic brand has sold over 100 million units the world over. The company is going strong in the field of mobile computers and bagged the position of world’s top PC manufacturer in 2013.

The ThinkPad XI Carbon has a rugged carbon-forged chassis enclosing a 5th generation powerful Intel Core processor and a new PCIe solid state drive that gives 80% faster storage performance compared to standard solid state drives. It has a super bright Full HD display offering the best viewing experience. The ThinkPad is priced at $1249 and will be available from this month itself.

Lenovo’s ThinkPad X, T, L and E series will also be updated and these new laptops will also have faster 5th generation Intel Core processors and other characteristic features of the ThinkPad brand: “thin and light, with extended battery life to maximize mobility, and bright and clear displays up to 3K resolution for optimum viewing pleasure and ergonomic comfort”.  These new models will be released in February 2015. ThinkPad T450s and T450:  Price starts from $1099 and $849 respectively


ThinkPad T550:  Price starts from $999


ThinkPad E450 and E550: Price starts from $599

Lenovo has also announced a few other devices that will be released in the coming months. Among them is the ThinkVision X24 monitor having a next gen Neo Blade 23.8” ultra-thin IPS FHD panel with a 178⁰ wide-viewing angle. It has a pre-coated metallic back and a thickness of just 7.5mm. It’s pricing starts from $249 and will be available in April 2015.

Lenovo has also announced a new set of mobile accessories called the ThinkPad Stack. All the devices in the stack feature a unique magnetic interlocking design. They help to minimize the clutter of cables and adapters and offer easy portability.


The devices include a 10,000 mAh Power Bank to keep phones and tablets charged on long trips; a one terabyte USB 3.0 Hard Drive, a Wireless Access Point for good Wi-Fi while travelling; and a Bluetooth Speaker that seamlessly pairs with the ThinkPad. All these accessories can be stacked neatly with pogo-pin connections and save a lot of space and clutter.

ThinkPad Stack accessories will become available from mid-April 2015 onward. ThinkPad Stack 10000mAh Power Bank will cost $49.99, ThinkPad Wireless Access Point /1TB Hard Drive Kit will cost $199.99 and the ThinkPad Stack Bluetooth Speaker will cost $89.99.
