To be precise, the Samsung Galaxy A8 is 5.9mm thin and weighs just 151 grams inspite of being made with some of the very premium chassis materials. The Galaxy A8 hosts a 5.7” 1080p Super AMOLED display, which also makes it to be the largest handset in the premium metallic A-series. Under the hood lies a powerful octa-core Snapdragon 615 chipset, clocked at 1.5GHz with 2GB of RAM memory support. The device comes in two storage options of 16/32GB of internal memory along with a microSD card slot.

The primary camera is topped to a whopping 16MP ISOCELL sensor, while at the front lies a 5MP secondary snapper with f/1.9 wide aperture. Just like the other premium flagships, the Galaxy A8 too has a fingerprint scanner baked within its home key.

Samsung Galaxy A8 promises a 16MP camera sensor, however, if we are about to integrate 16MP Sony IMX240 and Samsung ISOCELL sensor which is used in Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, the device thickness cannot remain as 5.9mm. Therefore, to solve this issue, Samsung will still be using an ISOCELL sensor, however the slightly downgraded version. Samsung will be using the new module with model LSI3P3, which has a reduced pixel size of 1.0 µm. With this arrangement, it makes the camera sensor 23% thinner than the Sony camera and thus it can be fitted into Samsung Galaxy A8 and the thickness of 5.9mm still will be able to be achieved.

From the images it can be seen that the Galaxy A8 follows the recent design pattern of most of Samsung flagships and seem to have a metal framing to its sides. What will be more surprising will be the dimensions of the device which show it 157.7 x 76 x 5.9mm weighing just 140 grams. This would be the slimmest device from the entire Samsung camp till now.

In addition to just the images, we also have got some information regarding the specs for the device. The Samsung Galaxy A8 is expected to have either a 5.7 or a 5.5inch super AMOLED screen with full HD resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.

The device will have a built-in 16GB of storage along with a provision of microSD card slot for expandable memory. Recently there was a news as to the Samsung Galaxy A8 to be coming with a fingerprint sensor and is likely to be launched in multiple markets all around Europe and Asia. Now benchmarking website GFXBench has arrived with some hardware specifications of the device. Denying some previous rumors, the GFXBench shows the handset to be having a 5.5inch display instead of a 5.7inch one having a fullHD resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.

Other specs are in line with the previous rumors showing a Snapdragon 615 chipset to its heart along with a 2GB of RAM memory and 16GB of internal storage space. Additional leak shows that the handset would be running the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on-board. Moreover, compared to last year when the Galaxy A7 hosted a 13MP camera, the Samsung Galaxy A8 is likely to have a topped up 16MP primary camera shooter to its back.

A recent rumor coming from the industry shows that the upcoming handset Samsung Galaxy A8 is likely to arrive in different markets of Asia and Europe. Samsung based website Sammobile has claimed that the Samsung Galaxy A8 is likely to have a finger-print sensor which will be in fact a touch-based fingerprint reader similar to the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. This is a touch-based fingerprint sensor opposed to the swipe based one as seen in the Galaxy Alpha.
