HP unveils 7 new monitors, including 4K, 5K, curved, and 3D virtual displays

HP went furious yesterday at CES 2015 by announcing seven monitors at once. This comprises of one 5k screen, 3D monitor, some curved and 4K monitors.


The HP Z27q is the 27-inch 5120×2880 p resolution monitor, similar to the new iMac with Retina display. Moreover, it has four USB 3.0 outputs, two DisplayPort 1.2 inputs, tilt, swivel, pivot, and height adjustment covering 99% of the overall Adobe RGB gamut. The HP Z27q is available with a affordable price-tag of $1,299 starting March.


HP also launched 27-inch Z27s and 23.8-inch Z24s with 4k display. Both are having 3840×2160 resolution alongwith 1.07 billion colors covered by  sRGB color gamut. Both features four USB 3.0 ports, 1 audio out port, HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2, Mini DisplayPort,tilt,pivot, swivel and height adjustment. The Z24s will be available in April for $549 while Z27s will be available in January for $749.

The three curved monitor variants includes the 27-inch Pavillion 27c, EliteDisplay S270c and the 34-inch Envy 34c.  The 34c has a  3440×1440 resolution along with super wide 21:9 aspect ratio VA panel, dual HDMI (one with MHL), one DisplayPort 2.1, 8-bit color depth covering 98.8% sRGB coverage. It also possess low reflective coating and DTS Audio supported by 6W per channel speakers. It will be available for $999 during April. The 27c variant has a 1080p VA panel, HDMI 1.4, MHL 2.0 with built-in DTS Audio and 4W per channel speaker system. The S270c is almost same practically with a bigger display and is available now for $399.

Lastly, HP launched the 3D Zvr virtual reality monitor. It features a  1080p TN panel with 3D cameras above the display along with one DVI-D port, one DisplayPort 1.2, and two USB 3.0 ports. 3D cameras can track user’s  head movement and with the help of the passive 3D glasses,  users can utilize real-time parallax effect to move objects around relative to the position of their head. This is specifically designed for 3D softwares such as AutoCAD and for places like design studios, schools and various engineering labs. No pricing information of 3D Zvr is available from HP yet.

A new HP 8-inch Windows 8.1 tablet gets listed

Computing giant HP seems to be coming out with a new tablet very soon! A new 8inch tablet with Windows 8.1 has appeared on the company’s website with the name of HP Pro Tablet 408 G1. The tablet comes with more better memory option, enhanced camera features and even supports the use of digital pen.


The HP Pr Tablet 408 G1 has an IPS screen having a resolution of 1200×800 pixels and is powered with Intel Atom Z3736F Bay Trail processor clocked at 1.33GHz. the device has a 2GB of RAM memory with 32/64GB of built in storage and an option for the expandable memory of up to 128GB via microSD card slot. To its back is a good 8MP primary camera while its front has a 2MP secondary snapper. The tablet comes with a good battery support of 4800mAh and comes with Windows 8.1 pre-installed and dual stereo speakers. The tablet is said to have been assembled by Foxconn.


However, the pricing of the tablet is still a suspense and the date of availability is still unknown. The tablet is believed to have paid a visit to FCC.

HP companies to split into two

Hewlett-Packard (HP) announced on Monday that it will split its company into two.  The two companies will be publicly traded. The business oriented company, the company which handles business technology such as computer servers and data storage equipment, software and services, will be called Hewlett-Packard Enterprise while the PC company, the other half company which handles the selling of personal computers and printers, will be called HP Inc. HP Inc will retain the current company’s logo.


In splitting into two companies, Ms.Whitman, HP’s Chief executive is hoping that it would give each company with independence, focus, financial resources and flexibility they need to adapt quickly to the market and customer dynamics and make HP more competitive.


Ms. Whitman will be the chief executive of Hewlett-Packard Enterprise and will serve as nonexecutive chairman of HP Inc. Patricia F.Russo will be the chairwoman of Hewlett-Packard Enterprise whereas Dion Weisler will be president and chief executive of HP Inc.


This announcement raised up HP’s stock 4.74% to $36.87 on Monday. HP shares have been rising sharply this year, but still below their highs in recent years.  This is not the first time that HP has split itself into two companies. In 1999, the test and measurement equipment division has separated from HP and become Agilent. Agilent rose 41% on their first day and the company became independent business company in 2000. As a result the company declined since then but as of now, Agile has market capitalization about the same as the first day’s value.


The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of fiscal year 2015.

HP released Stream 7 and Stream 8, Stream 7 is the cheapest Windows tablet

HP has released two more new tablets, Stream 7 and Stream 8. It is collaboration between HP and Microsoft. Both tablets will try to compete with the very cheap Android tablets which are out in the market now. It is just that the both tablets are running on Windows.


Stream 7 and Stream 8 will have similar design and both are running on Windows 8.1.  However, they will have different screen sizes. Stream 7 will have 7-inch display screen while Stream 8 will have 8-inch display screen as per their name.


There are no further details regarding their specs. But, according to the sources, both tablets will support HD display and comes with quad-core Intel processors. Both tablets offer 60 minutes of Skype monthly, a year subscription of Microsoft Office 365 Personal and 1TB of storage space on OneDrive. Stream 8 users will have an additional 200MB of free 4G data monthly until the end of the device lifespan.


Stream 7 and Stream 8 will be available in US starting of November. Stream 7 will be priced at $99.99 while Stream 8 will be pricing at $149.99. With the price of Stream 7, it is the cheapest Window tablet as of now. It is cheaper than Toshiba Encore Mini that was launched in the early September. It is not confirmed whether the two tablets will be sold internationally. Let’s just hope so.

A stylish smartwatch by Hewlett-Packard to debut soon

Smartwatches are trending, but the current lot of smartwatches available in the market has more utility value than style. Hewlett-Packard (HP) is now about to enter the fray with a stylish smartwatch. And the watch will not be just any other smartwatch for the tech geeks. It will be a smartwatch that will also make a fashion statement.


Yes, HP has partnered up with fashion designer Michael Bastian and the retailing company Gilt to create a fashionable fancy smartwatch. HP will handle the technical aspects, Michael Bastian will do the external designing of the watch and Gilt will take care of the sales.


The Hewlett-Packard smartwatch will be in a round shape having a 44mm stainless steel case with a multi-layered finish, inlaid button controls, unique bezel bolts and a lighted chronograph. It will have three interchangeable bands – Brown leather, Black rubber and Olive Green nylon. The limited edition watch will have a Black band. For designing the watch, Michael Bastian has taken inspiration from the interior of a luxury car such as dashboard and trim.


About the technical ‘smart’ aspect of the watch, HP will take care of the software including apps like notifications for text messages and emails, music control and getting updates for weather, news, sports, stocks and such things.


The HP watch would be compatible with both Android and iOS. The device is expected to hit the Gilt store this fall. There is no other information available regarding its pricing, display or working.
