Moto X (Gen 2): An Impressive Upgrade by Motorola

The successor of Moto X arrives after six months of its release in India. Motorola labeled it as Moto X (Gen 2) along with the Moto G (Gen 2) and Moto 360 smartwatch at an IFA 2014 event on Friday.

While announcing the smartphone, the company stressed that the new Moto X offers “pure style and pure performance”, but the pricing of the Moto X (Gen 2) has not been disclosed yet in India. Motorola confirmed that the smartphone will be made available on Flipkart.

The display on the second generation model is a 5.2-inch full HD 1080p screen with a density of 423 ppi, powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor along with 2GB of RAM.

Motorola has also upgraded the Moto X’s 10-megapixel camera to a 13-megapixel unit, which now has an f/2.25 lens and supports 4K video recording. There is also a dual-LED ring flash around the lens. There is a 2-megapixel front-facing camera capable of full-HD (1080p) video recording.

The new Moto X (Gen 2) runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box, and the company has confirmed it will roll out an Android L update in due course. It has been launched in two storage variants, 16GB and 32GB, but there is no microSD card slot for expansion.

The notifications on the Moto X (Gen 2) can be expanded by pulling down with two fingers. It comes preloaded with multiple Google apps and also includes four of Motorola’s own apps – Motorola Migrate, Moto Display, Motorola Assist, and Motorola Alert. The Moto X (Gen 2) also ships with a “turbo charger” that adds 8 hours of battery life to the Moto X after charging the phone for just 15 minutes.

The company did announce the US pricing of the device which is $499.99 (roughly Rs. 30,114) for an unlocked 16GB unit and $99 on-contract respectively.

Moto G2 Display Sale in China Starts

Motorola has not announced about Moto G2 yet but you can order for the display assembly online. The main Chinese online retailer Taobao Company has listed the upcoming device of Motorola. The seller promises to send you the ordered Moto G2 display sale within 8 hours. The price is CNY 350 ($57) for the clients but without shipping cost.

Moto G2’s display image has some similarity to the leaked display panel pictures of Motorola X+1. However, speaker slow below the screen is missing from the mobile phone leaked. At the same time, Moto X and Moto G have same design language in order to make the devices slightly same in nature and feature.

Moto 360 Smartwatch and Moto G2 will be released soon probably on 4September. According to the rumored news, Moto G2 will have a snapdragon 400 chipset with 1.2 quad-core processor and 1 GB RAM. Moreover, it is a 5-inch display with 720P resolution and 8 megapixels camera as well as Android KitKat 4.4.4 OS.

The IFA 2014 event at Berlin seems to be packed up with many big news set to be coming from the tech industry. The Galaxy Note 4 from Samsung has already managed to make much noise in the town and now we have not one but in-fact three big announcements coming from Motorola. Yes, you heard it right! Motorola could be all set to announce its Moto G successor Moto G2, its Moto 360 smartwatch launched earlier this year and the much talked after Moto X+1. It is assumed that an additional Bluetooth accessory is also in the list on announcements from the company.

After being launched on March 18^th this year, the Moto 360 seems to be all set to arrive in the market. The smartwatch has recently been in news for quite a time and is expected to have wireless charging. The smartwatch is expected to be priced for $249, but we would wait for the company to make the official final announcement.

The Moto X+1 would undoubtedly the company’s next flagship and would sport a 5.1inch 1080p display powered with a quad-coreQualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset clocked at 2.5GHz with a 2GB of RAM support. The device would host a 12MP primary camera with a battery capacity of 2900mAh.

The Moto G2, successor to the much famous existing Moto G has been leaked previously. The device would come with a dual-SIM support having a 5” display with 720p resolution and a quad-core Snapdragon 400 chipset with 1.2GHz of clocking. The device is expected to have 1GB of RAM and would host a 8MP primary camera. The handset could even be named as the Moto G+1, but we would get the final details next month on September 4^th from the company.
