Another Plus for OnePlus 2–It Will Have a 4GB LPDDR4 RAM

OnePlus 2 is set to be launched on 27th of this month in an unconventional virtual reality style announcement, touted to be the world’s first such launching for a smartphone. OnePlus has just made another big announcement that its second generation flagship will have a whopping 4GB RAM, 1GB more than its predecessor OnePlus One which has a 3GB RAM.

OnePlus 2-RAM

Random Access Memory or RAM handles current actions of the device such as actively running apps or those running in the background. According to the company, the LPDDR4 RAM offers “faster loading times, smoother gameplay, and never-before-seen energy saving features.” It also consumes less power and improves battery efficiency. The OnePlus 2 RAM will use lower operating voltage of 1.1V compared to the 1.2V of OnePlus One’s LPDDR3. It is also 2x faster with up to 32GB /s of speed.

We already know that the OnePlus 2 will be featuring the octa core Snapdragon 810 chipset, fingerprint scanner and Type-C USB port. The fingerprint scanner will be placed below the camera and LED flash on the backside. The new Type-C USB port in it will allow the user to insert the cable connector any side up. Other expected features of the OnePlus 2 are a 5.5-inch to 5.7-inch screen and Adreno 430 GPU.

As for pricing, there were several speculations but now its CEO Pete Lau has confirmed that the handset “will be priced under 450 USD.”

Rumored OnePlus Two Render Image Shows Metal Build

Liu Zuohu announced not too long ago that the upcoming OnePlus Two is coming with a full metal build. Recently, a render of the new smartphone leaked on Weibo showing the back of the device, and it seems like the rumor is true. However, nothing can be confirmed before there is an official statement or the final product has been released.

From the leaked image, one thing that is noticeable is how thin the device is. The predecessor, OnePlus One is measured at 8.9mm and it seems like OnePlus Two will be thinner than that if seen from the image. The top and the bottom of the device seems to be made from plastic which is probably where they put the antenna reception while the back of the device seems to be slightly curved just like OnePlus One. The slightly curved OnePlus Two make it easier to grab while holding the device however, when it is put on top of the table, it will be a little bit shaky, which is not so convenient when using it to play game.

OnePlus Two will also coming with a fingerprint reader which most probably going to be integrated in the home button.  In the previously leaked image draft of OnePlus Two, it seems like there will be a dual-camera setup on the back; however, this arrangement is missing from this leaked image, instead it is showing a single sensor camera with a dual-LED flash.

OnePlus Two will be announced in the virtual reality launch event on 27 July 2015.

Fingerprint Scanner Feature Confirmed to be part of OnePlus 2

OnePlus 2 uploaded a teaser image on one of the social media recently, informing that the fingerprint scanner is going to be part of the device as the security feature. The smartphone will be showcased soon in a launch event different than any other launch event that has been done before. It is going to be launched via a VR(Virtual Reality) event which hopefully will allow users to have a different experience to try the smartphone. The event will be held on July 27th starting at 10PM EDT.

OnePlus 2 will have a 5.5-inch to 5.7-inch screen display screen size. The resolution is not disclosed yet; however, most probably it is going to be either FHD (1080 x 1920) or QHD (1440 x 2560).  One thing of sure is that the device will be running on Snapdragon 810 SoC which includes an octa-core CPU and Adreno 430 GPU.  Eventhough OnePlus 2 is using the 2.1 version of the SoC, however, looking at another smartphone, Sony Xperia Z3+, which is also using the same version of the chipset is still suffering from the overheating issue. Well, hopefully, it does not happen in OnePlus 2. On top of that, OnePlus 2 will be coming with Type-C USB port which boasts faster data transfer rate and more convenience to the user as it allows users to plug in the cable with either side of the end.

Unfortunately, OnePlus 2 is only available for people who already requested for the invitation beforehand. Therefore, not everybody is going to be able to buy it. It seems like the company is doing this to balance the supply and demand. However, hopefully, we do not have to hear about any shortage of the device as what has happened on the launch of OnePlus One last year.

Alleged images of OnePlus 2 showing both its front and back sides leak

With only one month to go for the eagerly awaited launch of OnePlus 2, a couple of images showing both the front and the back sides of the device have leaked online. The alleged photos of OnePlus’s upcoming flagship are not too clear but show it to be quite similar to its predecessor in terms of design. The photo of the backside shows it to have a fingerprint scanner beneath the camera and LED flash.

OnePlus has already confirmed that its new flagship OnePlus 2 will be officially launched on 27 July in Virtual Reality style. This is an unconventional launching style and OnePlus is even sending outcardboard VR headset to those who request it, thus spending quite a lot of money on this. After the success of OnePlus One, the company is under pressure to come out with an even better successor. The company’s mission is to produce smartphones with premium specs and selling them at affordable prices.

OnePlus One features a 5.5-inch display having a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels which is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset. It’s 64GB Sandstone Black version was priced at $399 while the 16GB Silk White model was priced at $349. The company had expected to sell around 50,000 to 100,000 handsets but ended up selling almost one million handsets.

Now the upcoming flagship OnePlus 2 is expected to sport a 5.5 to 5.7-inch screen, an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor and Adreno 430 GPU. It will also have the new Type-C USB port that allows the user to insert the cable connector keeping any side up. This handset is supposed to come with a price tag of less than $300.

However, since there is no official confirmation from the company, the leaked images may be taken with a pinch of salt for now. We will keep you advised about the latest developments as and when we get them. Meanwhile, stay tuned!

OnePlus 2 Launch Event Will be Done in Virtual Reality style on July 27th

OnePlus has confirmed that the official launch event of OnePlus 2 will be done on July 27th 7PM and viewers will be able to watch it in virtual reality. Unlike the previous OnePlus One smartphone, OnePlus 2 smartphone will be priced for less than $300.

Instead of the conventional way for launching a product, which is in an auditorium full of audience, keynote and a speaker, OnePlus 2 launch event will enable the viewers to check out the smartphone in a new way and hopefully find a few interesting hidden features. On top of that, OnePlus is going to release a Google cardboard headset for One in the future and hopefully it is sooner than expected.

Unfortunately, OnePlus 2 is by invitation only. Therefore only selected consumers will be able to get the physical product. OnePlus 2 will be running on Snapdragon 810 processor and also will include the latest USB Type C port. Eventhough the processor is known for its overheating issue like what the other smartphones which are also using it are experiencing such as Xiaomi Mi 4i, Mi Note Pro, HTC One M9 and Sony Zperia Z3+,  OnePlus boasts that it will not happen to the device. Well, we have to test the product ourselves to believe it.

OnePlus 2 Smartphone Confirmed to Come with USB Type-C Port

Google made an announcement in its annual developer conference that USB Type-C would be the standard for Android devices in the future. Why USB Type-C? It is because the port is smaller, able to support reversible charging as well as it is more convenient than the current MicroUSB ports which we have in our device nowadays. On top of that, the data transfer will also be faster, up to 10Gbps, with USB Type-C port.

OnePlus announced recently that its flagship product OnePlus 2 is going to feature USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. If the rumor deemed to be true, that means that OnePlus 2 will be the first smartphone which will come with the new USB port. Apart from the new USB Type-C port, the device is rumored to run on Snapdragon 810 version 2.1 processor,  13 MP rear camera and will be priced higher than the rumored $322 price tag previously.

Apart from OnePlus 2, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is rumored to come with USB Type-C port as well, on top of the rumor that the device will come pre-installed with Google’s latest OS, Android M. Apple’s latest MacBook Air which was launched recently, also comes with USB-C port. It seems like Apple and Google are using the same USB standard now, which is a good thing.

OnePlus Two to have Snapdragon 810 and 2500 Yuan pricing

OnePlus’s CEO Pete Lau has been discussing OnePlus Two with fans on the Chinese social network  Weibo. OnePlus Two is the successor to OnePlus One and would be the company’s next flagship.

Pete Lau posted on Weibo that OnePlus 2 will carry Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 processor when it launches in the third quarter of 2015. Although the 810 chip will become stale by then, it would be economical as its prices are expected to drop later and the phone would get a powerful chipset for a much lower price.

Lau also discussed about the pricing of OnePlus Two. He asked his followers on Weibo, “If OnePlus Two comes with Snapdragon 810, what do you think will be the price?”. He got several replies, and when someone said 2499 Yuan (about $403), Lau said that it was “reasonable”.

Interestingly, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei asked the same question on Twitter and followers suggested various prices. Carl Pei wrote “Sounds reasonable” to the price of “400$”.

This doesn’t seem to be a coincidence and the price of OnePlus Two will probably be around $400.

Apart from Snapdragon 810, OnePlus Two is rumored to come with a 5.5-inch QHD display, 4GB of RAM and a 3,300mAh battery. The phone will be offered through an invitation system. OnePlus is also working on another affordable smartphone in the OnePlus family which will also be released this year.

OnePlus One to get MaxxAudio sound enhancement software in next Cyanogen update

Although the Chinese manufacturer OnePlus is relatively a new entrant in the smartphone market, its first product, the OnePlus One smartphone launched in April this year, has been quite well received.  The company is striving to provide an improved user experience to its customers.

OnePlus has announced that it is coming out with a global OTA update in January 2015 vide which the OnePlus One will get Waves Audio’s MaxxAudio psychoacoustic sound enhancement suite. The company had recently enhanced OnePlus One’s camera function by adding clear image technology for better shots and the ability capture RAW images. OnePlus has now partnered with Waves Audio to add their MaxxAudio technology to OnePlus One.

OnePlus One -MaxxAudio-1

MaxxAudio technology improves our listening experience by producing deeper bass, louder volume, clearer highs and better sound quality from earphones, speakers and devices connected by Bluetooth.

The Cyanogen team has integrated this MaxxAudio technology into OnePlus One. Steve Kondik, CTO of Cyanogen Inc. says, “Our team worked closely with MaxxAudio to perfect the software integration through the new version of the AudioFX app we developed.

They have custom-tuned MaxxAudio specifically for OnePlus One’s speakers and the company’s JBL E1+ and Silver Bullet earphones. 10 equalizer presets including classical music, Jazz, heavy metal and hip hop will be available to the users. The user will also be able to manually control treble, bass and headphones spaciousness.

As Carl Pei, co-founder and director of OnePlus Global puts it, “With MaxxAudio from Waves, we are upping the bar on smartphone audio quality and customization.

All from OnePlus: a Custom ROM, a Naming Contest and a Noteworthy Power Bank

OnePlus has a lot in store this Holiday season. First on the list is a custom ROM underway. It was not confirmed but rumors were hinting that it is because of the recent problem with OnePlus’ partnership with Cyanogen, which apparently signed a private contract with India’s Micromax. However, this upcoming custom ROM would not be a requisite replacement for Cyanogen but an option for OnePlus users. Quoting OnePlus, “We promise that it will be close to stock, bloat-free, and highly customizable.” . Adding that it would be much sooner than likely expected.

In line with this, OnePlus is making up a naming contest since its ROM still has no label. If winning a OnePLus PowerBank or a trip to ONePLus’ HQ in Shenzhen, China and one 64GB Sandstone Black OnePLus One appeals to you, you can check the contest details here.

And the last but certainly not the least interesting is the power bank that is soon to be available in ONePLus’ online store for $15. This handy powerhouse can impressively contain 10,000mAh of power, sufficient to charge your OnePlus for approximately three times. It comes in black and white aluminium case with two USB ports, allowing charging two devices at a time. It is very modern with a LED indicator that alerts by shaking the bank. It is very light with only 0.48lbs/ 7.76Oz/ 220 grams. For its price, this is definitely a good buy!

OnePlus Two may be announced in Q1 or Q2 of 2015

The Chinese company OnePlus entered the smartphone arena this year with its first smartphone OnePlus One going official this April with the tag line “Never Settle”. The phone offers some great features at very low prices, making it a most sought-after phone but is very hard-to-get. Now it looks like its successor the OnePlus Two is already in the works.

OnePlus One has been launched in India on 2nd of this month and the company has officially confirmed that its successor OnePlus Two will be launched before September of 2015. As OnePlus Global’s director Carl Pei told BGR India:

We are planning to announce the OnePlus Two in Q2 or Q3 next year. So it is one year after this phone [OnePlus One].

When he was asked if the company plans to launch the new flagship in India, Carl said:

India will be one of the first countries we will launch the OnePlus Two in.

Already many rumors about the upcoming OnePlus Two smartphone are floating around. One such rumor says it would have a smaller display but be a bit more pricy than the OnePlus One, but still cheaper than other similar Android phones.

No concrete details about its specs are available as yet but a source has told Business Insider that OnePlus Two would “probably be more customizable” and have “some surprises in store” with respect to its hardware.

OnePlus One is powered by CyanogenMod 11S but Cyanogen has now tied up with Micromax to exclusively supply software to its “Yu” brand of devices. However, OnePlus has assured its customers that it has assembled its own software team to develop something on its own as soon as possible.

Here are some pics of OnePlus One:

OneWatch Makes it Two for OnePlus

After OnePlus One, the company’s flagship smartphone, OnePlus is trying out other avenues. Images of its first smart-watch just leaked and it is enough to capture generous attention from the web. It is said to be coming by the name of OneWatch. It is actually impressive with its circular display, sapphire glass and curved battery. I suppose the last feature made you all raise your eyebrows in quiet amusement. OneWatch is being compared to Moto 360. Although in size, OneWatch is smaller. It has circular OLED sapphire glass-protected display and watch face with titanium trims. It has a configured physical button on the side and the most interesting detail, the leather strap housing a curved battery which supports QI wireless charging

As you might have noticed, OneWatch is a mix of high-end materials – titanium, leather, sapphire. Visually, it would be very sophisticated. Not overly designed but still striking. There is no confirmation yet if OneWatch will be another Android Wear gadget, for Google’s watch-centric, for Android ROM or for the Cyanogen team.

OnePlus One was priced affordably although it is a high-end smartphone, and so many are crossing their fingers it would go the same for the OneWatch. Am I not with them? There are no details yet the pricing and availability, but if OnePlus is indeed moving fast, I will be sharing to you these most awaited details in no time.
