Samsung SM-R382 Android smartwatch spotted on FCC website

We’re just two weeks away from the Google I/O developer event where the first Android Wear smartwatches are expected to debut. We are already knowing about the LG G Watch and the Moto 360 but Google also do have additional hardware partners for Android Wear. Samsung is one and they are apparently not losing momentum in wearable segments. The new model number SM-R382 of a wearable device has been spotted on the FCC website confirming the launching date soon.

According to the FCC listing, the SM-R382 is certainly a smartwatch, but it remains to be seen if this is the rumored Gear 2 Solo, a SIM-enabled variant of the Gear 2 that is expected to launched next to the Galaxy Note 4 in September, or else it is the Android Wear-based Galaxy Wear that Samsung has confirmed. Reportedly, it is found that the SM-R382 is around 10mm smaller than the Gear 2 in height, indicating the watch not having a hard home button or camera. The SM-R382 device featuring Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity has already passed through the Bluetooth certification.

Samsung Inc. seems to be striking out on its own with Tizen in wearable devices. There are always more developers for Android than Tizen, concluding that if the company skips Android Wear entirely, it could miss out on apps for its own wearable device. The company has not revealed about the price and availability of the device. Sources are hinting that SM-R382 will be the third Android Wear device that Google will show off at Google I/O. Stay tuned to Doi-Toshin for further updates.
