Sony Xperia T3, the world’s slimmest 5.3” smartphone unveiled

Sony has launched what it calls ‘the world’s slimmest 5.3” smartphone, the Xperia T3. According to Sony, Xperia T3 has a “Design you will want to hold on to” with “Beauty in every detail”. It is a 7mm thin mid-range smartphone, thinnest in the 5.3” range but not the thinnest among all the smartphones as such. Maybe this was what the teaser was about. There was much speculation that it would be the Xperia Z2 Ultra but it turned out this mid-range smartphone instead.


Sony Xperia T3-1


The Sony Xperia T3 has a stainless steel frame and weighs 148 gms. Its dimensions are 150.7x77x7mm. The back is made of matte plastic.  It has a 1280x720p HD Triluminos display with mobile Bravia engine 2. The handset has a 1.4 GHz Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor and Adreno 305 graphics, 1GB Ram and 8GB internal storage with a microSD card slot to expand up to 32GB.


The Xperia T3 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat. It is equipped with an 8MP rear camera featuring auto focus Exmor RS for mobile image sensor and a 1.1MP front-facing camera. The rear camera supports 1080p HD video recording while the front camera supports 720p recording. Camera apps include Social live, AR effect, Timeshift burst, Creative effects and Portrait retouch.

For a mid-range device the Sony Xperia T3 has good connectivity with 2G, 3G, LTE (4G), Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi Miracast, NFC and aGPS.  The battery is 2500mAh with talk time of 12 hours 46 minutes and standby time of up to 688 hours.


The Sony Xperia T3 will hit the stores from the end of July and will be available in 3 colors –black, white and purple.
