Up until now we have seen the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 Mockups, but some info on the rumored 5.5-inch iPhone 6 is surfacing online. The case of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 was spotted on a pair of posts by Rocket News 24. The physical mockup of the iPhone 6 is a 3D printed version of the leaked model. These pictures are comparison shots of the regular 4.7-inch iPhone 6 with the 5.5-inch phablet version.
This 3D model was printed by using a MakerBot Replicator 2 3D Printer and the design was published earlier in 2014 by by MacFan. The Japanese website Rocket News 24 took the dimensions of the leaked case to make a 3D printed mockup of the larger iPhone 6. Its side to side comparison with the iPhone 5s is pretty amazing. These iPhone phablets may get a lot of attention now that they’ve finally arrived in the market.
The 5.5 inch iPhone 6 is much larger, it is 157 mm long, 77 mm wide, and 6.7 thick. It is longer and wider than the iPhone 5s but its thin body matches more closely with the fifth generation iPod touch having dimensions 123.4 x 58.6 x 6.1 mm.
The iPhone 6 Mockup features longer edges like those of the iPod touch instead of hard corners of the iPhone 5s. From its 3D printed model it seems that it’ll have elongated volume buttons as well. This simple mockup only tells us about the size of the new iPhone 6 phablet and a few other details. Its not as detailed as the models of the 4.7 inch iPhone 6.
Apple is ready to release the 4.7-inch version of the iPhone 6 for the fall of 2014. The 5.5-inch version of the iPhone 6 is probably gonna take some time. It may release around the holiday season or maybe even later in 2015. Production issues with preparing the new phone for the market may cause delays in its release.
