Google along with its Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 released the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop version with Material Design that hosts a completely new design as compared to the previous Android versions. This new design majorly offers a flatter interface making the use of different animations, colors and shadows that would work together to perceive different active regions within an app. However, the search giant is aiming to offer a unified look to its OS between its apps. This is the same even if the apps are developed by third party developers on the Android platform. In order to bring this into account, the company has recently released an checklist for developers who want to put their apps on the Material Design OS.
The list (link in source) aims to convey the philosophy behind the new UI in around 35 points. They are short and to the point, so a bit dry to read, but if you are interested in Google’s approach to the new look – this info comes straight from the horse’s mouth.
