The Upcoming 12.9-inch iPad Pro Production Rumored Delayed to Q2 2015

The upcoming Apple’s 12.9-inch iPad Pro will be delayed for mass production until the second quarter of 2015. The device is rumored to use an oxide panel in order to achieve a high resolution, quick response and high color saturation. With all these features, it might take awhile to yield the component and assembly it thus the mass production will be delayed until 2Q 2015.

Earlier this year, Bloomberg reported that the iPad Pro will be released in early 2015.  However, the latest report from The Wall Street Journal suggested that Apple has delayed the mass production to focus on producing more iphone 6 plus units leaving the potential iPad Pro release date unconfirmed.

Some of the information that we get for the new iPad Pro includes bigger display size at 12.9-inch display size and it will be running the same A8X processor as iPad Air 2 along with ultra high resolution display and a 7mm thick form factor that is similar to existing iPads.

The iPad shipments was predicted to fall 54.5 percent quarter after quarter to just 9.8 million units during the first calendar quarter of 2015 according to often-reliable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He also points out that the lack of new applications and the tablet saturation in the market as his basis for his prediction.

However, in the reality, Apple sold 16.35 millions of iPads during the first calendar quarter of 2014 but it is true that iPad sales have been down for the first three quarters in a row. For the fourth quarter of 2014, Apple sold 12.3 million iPads down from 14.1 million units in 2013.

Apple CEO Tim Cook the sales drop for iPad is only a “speed bump” that the company will overcome and suggested that significant innovations can be brought to the iPad and it looks like Apple is working towards it.
