Samsung Galaxy Alpha is the first handset to have a Corning Gorilla Glass 4

Yesterday, smartphone screen glass maker Corning announced that it has paired up with Samsung wherein the Korean giant’s smartphone would be the first handset to have a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 which is too the latest screen protector glass from Corning. Samsung has however decided to have a very thin chassis of 7mm for its Galaxy Alpha wherein the front screen glass would constitute for o.4mm thickness only offering an excellent toughness to slimness ratio.


According to Corning, the Gorilla Glass 4 is the most damage resistant glass till date providing excellent shielding and protection against any kind of damage from device drops. The reality experts at Corning have examined “hundreds of broken devices” to properly understand how to cover glass breaks. According to the experts, the damage that resulted through surface contacts accounted for nearly 70 percent failures. Ultimately, their efforts led into creating a thinner glass with enhanced toughness.


The Samsung Galaxy Alpha comes with a 4.7inch display and a metal frame with a removable plastic back cover and a Galaxy S5 alike design. The smartphone has baked-in Exynos 5 chipset supporting category 6 LTE data. The handset has a 12MP primary camera capable of recording 4K Ultra HD video @30fps.
