Yesterday we saw specs of Samsung Galaxy A7 revealed in a leak. We have also had a leak saying Samsung might be planning for a new mid-range E-series of smartphones. Now the reliable site Sammobile has come back with detailed specs about the new Samsung E-series phones – The Galaxy E5 (SM-E500F) and the Galaxy E7 (SM-E700F). Both the new devices are mid-range phones with specs similar to Samsung’s A-series devices, the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7, and both will come with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop preinstalled.
Galaxy E7 will supposedly have a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD display with a resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels, a Snapdragon 410 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage (expandable), a 13MP primary camera, 5MP front-facing shooter, and a 2,950mAh battery. The E7 will have dimensions of 151×77×7.2 mm. As we can see, the E7 handset will be quite thin at 7.2 mm. As already mentioned, the handset will run Android 5.0 Lollipop with Samsung’s own TouchWiz UI on top.
The Galaxy E5 would be somewhat smaller with a 5-inch Super AMOLED HD display. The main camera here is 8MP and the battery is 2300mAh compared to the more powerful 13MP camera and 2950mAh battery in the E7. Other specs such as the Snapdragon 410 chipset, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage (expandable) and 5MP front-facing camera are the same as the E7 handset. At 6.9 mm, E5 is even thinner than E7 and weighs about 140 grams.
An inside source has told Sammobile that both Galaxy E5 and E7 will have non-removable batteries. There is no official indication when the two models will be announced. It will probably be somewhere in the first half of 2015 but maybe not in the first couple of months of the year because the Galaxy A7 is still waiting to be announced.
