Samsung files to trademark Galaxy S6 and S6 edge in South Korea

If you were having doubts whether Samsung’s new flagship and its curved screen brother will really be called Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, you can relax. It is true. Both the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are coming for sure because Samsung has filed for trademarking the names in South Korea.

This move of the South Korean giant was spotted by the Samsung specialist Dutch site Galaxy Club. The trademark applications were filed on February 4th in which the applicant is mentioned as ““Samsung C & T Corporation | SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS” and simply request trademarks for Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. In the second name, the name ‘Galaxy’ is missing and ‘edge’ is in lower case. Both the applications are listed in the KIPRIS (Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service) database.

Although these trademark filings do not give any indication about the details of these devices, earlier rumors suggest that both will have almost similar specs. Probably the only difference will be in their display screens.

Both the devices are rumored to feature a Quad HD display, Samsung’s 64-bit Exynos chipset, improved camera, redesigned fingerprint scanner. They will have pre-installed Android 5.0 Lollipop with a trimmed version of TouchWiz on top, may also have a new mobile payment system.
