Now the recent reports coming from the industry show that Korean tech giant Samsung is also coming with a similar dual-sensor camera pattern for its upcoming flagship. Samsung Electronics Own Processor Core Might be released in Galaxy S7

Samsung Electronics is working on its own version of processor since four years ago. The company has plans to use it on Galaxy S7. The processor will be running on 64-bit. Most of the mobile processors in the market currently is using ARM’s standard CPU core even though it seems like each mobile companies are coming up with their own version of mobile processor.

Apple’s A processor series are also using ARM’s design even though the Cyclone core version is partially modified so that it can be suitable to run on iPhone and iPad. Qualcomm, another mobile processor manufacturing company, has invented its own Snapdragon series. However, the design is also using ARM’s design with the custom core Krait which is also implemented in the product for stability. Krait is planned to be used in Snapdragon 820 onwards. Currently, Qualcomm has just released Snapdragon 810 series to the market.

Samsung to Win Apple Contract for A9 Chip Orders for the Next iPhone

This might be a good year for Samsung. There are rumors that Samsung Electronics Co. will manufacture Apple A9 processor chips for possibly the next Apple’s iPhone model.  Samsung Electronics has lost the contract to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. to manufacture the A8 processor chips for the previous iPhone model. One of the reasons was because Samsung and Apple were not in a good working relationship due to legal disputes back in 2011.

The Apple A9 processor chip will be manufactured in Samsung’s Giheung plant in South Korea. The order spillover will be done by Samsung’s partner Globalfoundries Inc. According to analyst at HI Investment & Securities Co, Song Myung Sup, if Globalfoundries could quickly adopt Samsung’s most advanced technology and increases yield, the company could also won orders from Qualcomm.

In this way, Samsung was expected to turn its business from 1 trillion won ($914 million) lost last year to a 1 trillion won gain this year. Samsung is the second chip manufacturer while Taiwan Semiconductor is the world’s biggest chip manufacturer which budgeted a record of $12 billion for plants and equipments.

Samsung Electronics new plant in Pyeongtaek to start operation in 2017

Samsung Electronics has announced that it will invest $14.7billion on a new single plant for its semiconductor business. The plant will produce either logic or memory chips but this decision is not final yet. The new plant will be located in Pyeongtaek, about 75 kilometers (47 miles) south from Seoul (South Korea’s capital city). When this new plant has opened, it is expected to create 150,000 jobs, equals to about third of the city’s population. The new plant is expected to open in 2017.

The decision that leads to the new plant is because the company’s smartphone business is being squeezed by Apple Inc and Chinese rivals such as Lenovo Group Ltd. As such the operating profit for Samsung’s mobile division has been declining in annual terms. However, with higher demand of mobile devices, it will lead to higher order for mobile chips and thus Samsung Electronics’s semiconductor division is expected to fulfil the demand by supplying the chips, according to an analyst. As a result,Samsung Electronic’s stock was closed 0.9 percent higher on Monday.

Samsung Electronic said to bring forward its investment plant by more than a year so that the company can be in line with the government calls to help to boost the domestic economic activities. On the location of the new plant which is relatively close to Seoul is to make it easier to recruit local engineering talent. The local government has proposed a tax on excess profits at big corporations to encourage them to spend more on investment, wages and dividends.
