Apple has launched its new MacBook which is thinner and lighter than the rest of the MacBook available so far. Weighing around 2 pounds, the device offers pretty good specifications such as enhanced retina display.

The new MacBook runs on a 1.1GHz dual-core with Turbo Boost up to 2.4GHz Intel’s Core M processor or a 1.2GHz dual-core Core M with a Turbo Boost of 2.6GHz or a 1.3GHz dual-core Core M with 2.9GHz Turbo Boost. The graphic is using Intel’s Intel HD Graphics 5300 chipset with a 8GB of RAM and a 256GB of internal storage. For the internal storage, it also comes with a 512GB of RAM.

When you open the device, the pentalobe and tri-wing screws are screwed with special tools and the battery is completely glued which makes it difficult to remove. The processor, RAM memory and flash memory are being soldered to the logic board. This arrangement making it difficult to open nevertheless to fix the component as there is almost nothing you can replace.

All MacBook normally is difficult to crack open and repair if needed be, however, it seems like the new MacBook will be more difficult to do it. Apple has launched a new MacBook recently. It is slim, light and it comes with Retina display. The only downside is that it only has a single port in the entire device. One way is to connect a dongle which comes with multiple ports to this port in order to do multiple things in a time, like charging your smartphone while transferring data from your MacBook to your portable hard disk.

The single port is versatile and it is using USB-C standard. You can do basically anything by connecting to this port, things like data transfer, outputs video and it also can send or receive power. However, of course, you will need a converter to convert USB-C standard to the normal USB-A standard that most devices are using currently.

The new MacBook is able to run for nine to 10 hours on a single charge and thus it can be further extended with a high-capacity battery pack. Apple’s new MacBook which was released recently has a really superb design. It is slim and light but it still able to offer full-size experience to the users. On top of that, it comes Gold, Space Grey and Silver color. Unfortunately, it only comes with a single USB-C port. HydraDock is an accessory which works well with the new MacBook as it provides extra ports that the device does not provide.

HydraDock is basically a dock which is made of plastic and measured at 12.5-inch long. Google Chrome drains battery life of the new 13” MacBook Pro Retina Display too

Google Chrome is one of the top web browsers available but in case of Apple’s MacBook, it is always advised not to use Chrome as it drains Mac’s battery life faster. Using Apple’s own Safari browser instead, improves MacBook’s battery life by over three hours!

When The Verge ran its usual battery tests on Apple’s new 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display, they found that the battery lasted much longer when the Safari browser was used. For the tests, the MacBook’s screen was set to 65% brightness and it was made to cycle through several websites until the battery died out.

When the native Safari browser was used, the battery of MacBook Pro lasted for 13 hours and 18 minutes but when Chrome was used, its battery gave out after 9 hours and 45 minutes only. Thus we can see that the Mac’s battery drained out about 3 and 1/2 hours early with Chrome proving that although it is a great browser, it is not as efficient on Mac as the Safari.

“Not to put too fine a point on it, but this is insane,” writes The Verge. “It’s the same exact computer. The battery, the processor, the memory — nothing changes but the web browser and the MacBook’s endurance is suddenly scythed down by a whopping three and a half hours.”

It is not only the battery life, the speed and quality obtained with Chrome was also not as good as the Safari. When the SunSpider browser benchmark test was run on MacBook pro, Safari clocked 144ms which was 30% faster than Chrome which clocked 203ms. Even the new 4K, 60fps videos of Google’s own YouTube are not playable properly in Mac on Chrome but the same videos play very nicely on Safari.

It seems that both Apple and Google are to blame for this sorry state of affairs. Apple, because it wants to promote its own Safari browser as being the most fast, efficient and ideal browser and will always keep it optimized even for the latest OS X platform. However, 3 and 1/2 hours is a bit too much and Google needs to address this issue on a priority basis as Chrome has never worked properly on MacBooks.

Invitation to Apple’s iPad and Mac Event on October 16th

“It’s been way too long”, shown on Apple’s invitation that takes place at the Town Hall auditorium on its Infinite Loop Campus in Cupertino, California at 10AM Local Time. It is an event whereby Apple will display the debut of Apple’s refreshed iPad Air and iPad mini.

According to the leaks, the new Air will come with slightly thinner design than its predecessor, more efficient Apple A8 chipset processor with M8 co-processor, Touch ID, improved camera features and screen design. The best part is that, it will also have gold colour option. As for the new Mini, it will have some of the Air’s new feature too.

Apple has also preparing to finalize the redesigned of OS X Yosemite alongside with new laptops and desktops with higher resolution screen. It is likely that the Macbook users will be able to download the OS for free on Mac App Store on the day of the event.

If all of these not enough, Apple is preparing to release new iMac and 12-inch MacBook with retina displays. However, since there is short supply for Macbook, it will be saved on a later day. However, the device which is confirmed to be announced next week is the iMac line-up. The new iMac will have higher resolution screens – 6400 x 3600, 5760 x 3240 and 4096 x 2304 pixels.

Lastly, Apple users can also expect the updated iWork, iLife apps and also the redesigned iTunes 12.
