Samsung Galaxy W hits the shelves in S.Korea

After many months of speculations Samsung has now officially announced the arrival of it 7 inch smartphone Galaxy W in South Korea. At this size this phone is the biggest phone in the lot. Galaxy W is like a Galaxy Tab but with thinner rim. So, it’s a compact tablet rather than being an over-sized phone.

With this huge size, Galaxy W’s internal hardware was also expected to be top notch but its not. Except its 7 inch display the phone has modest  other features like 1280×720 pixel  screen definition, 1.5 GB RAM, 1.2 GHz quad-core processor.  It runs 4.3 Android Jellybean with Samsung’s Touchwiz interface.  The phone is equipped with 8 MP rear camera and 2 MP front facing camera. It weighs around 245 grams and runs on 3200 mAh battery. On the storage front it has 16 GB internal memory expandable upto 32 GB.

Earlier there were large size smartphones in the market like Sony’s 6.4” Xperia Z Ultra and  6.3” Samsung Mega  but Galaxy W beats them all with its whooping 7 inch display. But Samsung has designed this phone easy to handle, as we can see from the image how easily it can be handled around the ear.

Galaxy W sells around $487 in Korean market and is available in three colors black, white and red. As per announcement, Galaxy W is on sale in Korea first but soon it is expected to be launched in international markets too. So, stay tuned for further developments.
