Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella aiming at local data centers in India

Microsoft is taking its active participation in the Cloud arena after Google declared full support for the Digital India program. This means that Microsoft has stepped forward in building cloud centers across the country.


The company is planning to offer its commercial cloud services, Microsoft Azure and Office 365 from the cloud centers that they are planning to setup across the country next year.


Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella on its first visit to India wants to capture the market, allowing the customers for adoption of public and hybrid cloud services. The market according to Satya Nadella is still at nascent stage.

After Steve Ballmer, retired back in August 2013, Microsoft shit its focus from software to devices and services. Microsoft claims of revenue expansions of over 100 percent in the past year in India.


Microsoft is trying to capture the market which is populated by more than 250 million people currently connected to the Internet. This clearly hints at the scope of the development in this direction. Tech giant local infrastructure can offer user’s quicker service, data sovereignty and geographic redundancy.


Many connected sectors like banking, finance, healthcare and insurance will benefit from the availability of the dependable cloud services by Microsoft in India. Government involvement is also prominent in this sector as they are allowing massive amount of energy towards transforming India into an IT superpower. In addition, e-governance facilities may also embrace such data centers.
