Samsung Galaxy Note 5 may reportedly come with a 6" 4K AMOLED Display

The Samsung Galaxy Note family is tipped to have a new member featuring a 5.9-inch UHD Super AMOLED 700+ppi display. According to a tip received by PhoneArena, the South Korean giant plans to begin mass production of such a smartphone in August 2015, its timeframe matching the release of Samsung’s next Galaxy Note, the Galaxy Note 5.

In 2013 itself, Samsung had revealed that it was planning to launch smartphones with QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels resolution) AMOLED display and it did come out with a Galaxy Note 4 sporting the same display. The company had also announced that it was working on UHD 4K Super AMOLED displays for smarthpones to be launched in 2015.

The alleged new smartphone will have 5.9-inch UHD (2160 x 3840 pixels resolution) 4K Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 746ppi. Since the next generation smartphones generally have bigger displays than the previous gen and the timing of its production matches with the annual release time of the next in the Galaxy Note series, it seems logical that this would be the Galaxy Note 5.

Very few details of the rumored Galaxy Note 5 are available at present except for the larger display. It may carry Snapdragon 810 or a more powerful SoC and a high resolution camera with Optical Image Stabilization. Recently, details about Samsung’s Project Zero for developing its new flagship the Galaxy S6 were leaked. According to rumors, Galaxy S6 will have the company’s own new Exynos 7420 chipset, a 64-bit octa-core chip having 4 cortex-A53 and 4 Cortex-A57 cores. The Galaxy Note 5 could have that configuration too.

As it does every year, Samsung could launch the new Galaxy Note 5 phablet at the IFA 2015 in September next year.
