Samsung Rumored to Release RAW Support and TouchWiz RAM Fix on Galaxy S6 Edge Plus

There is good news and a bad news for Samsung S6 and S6 Edge users. The good news is that there is Android 5.1 update for both smartphone models which has started rolling out. Unfortunately, the update does not come with the support for RAW in camera app and the fixes for RAM issues which apparently found in Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, which is the bad news.

Apparently, the support and the fixes will be part of Galaxy S6 Edge Plus which is rumored to be up on sale at the third quarter of this year. However, there is no confirmation whatsoever on the specific launch date. Normally, new products will be announced at the annual IFA mobile conference in Berlin.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is rumored to come with a 5.7-inch display with both side rounded. The current Galaxy S6 Edge has only one side of the screen rounded. On top of that, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is rumored to be pre-installed with the latest Android 5.1.1.

The issue with the current Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Plus is with the smartphones memory management which causes the apps to crash and load slowly as reported by some of the devices’ owners.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Active Only Available Exclusively at AT&T

There are a lot of rumors about the existence of a rugged version of Samsung Galaxy S6. Recently AT&T has confirmed that Samsung Galaxy S6, the rugged version, which goes by the codename Samsung Galaxy S6 Active will be available at AT&T at a premium price and it is exclusive only to the mobile provider.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is designed to meet the military standard so that it will not break apart when dropped from a certain height onto a hard surface. On top of that, it is protected against dust and it can survive when put in water up to 1.5 meters depth for half an hour. The smartphone is definitely able to endure more torture than the normal Samsung Galaxy S6.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is designed with a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with Quad HD resolution (1440 x 2560 pixels). With this kind of hardware specification, it is expected to be able to deliver a vibrant color with excellent detail in the outdoor environment regardless of the condition. On top of that, it comes with Samsung Exynos 7 Octa 7420, a 32GB internal storage and a 16MP main camera. However, sadly, there is no extra slot for microSD.

The battery capacity of Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is about 3500mAh which approximately almost 1000mAh more charge. With an additional $25, you can purchase a wireless charger for the smartphone exclusively from AT&T also when you purchase the S6 Active.

Samsung Reported to prepare another handset with curved edge display in second half of the year

Samsung started producing smartphone with curved edge display last year for Galaxy Note 4; however, to test the market response, it was only produced in small quantity. For this year, Samsung predicted that Galaxy S6 Edge sales will only be increased by a small margin compared with the previous Galaxy Note 4 Edge and thus the company only produces a small quantity also; however, the result is the opposite.  There is possibility that Galaxy S6 Edge will be more in demand and thus need to be prioritize in the production compared to Galaxy S6 itself. The market is apparently to be more interested in purchasing the curved edge display rather than the normal display.

The original plan for Galaxy S6 Edge production was 1 million per month; however, it has been increased to 3 million per month.  Galaxy S6 Edge needs a very high-technology processing such as the curved display and TSP. Apparently, there is no manufacturer which can produce this rather than Samsung Electronics.

Samsung Electronics is currently reviewing to increase the production to 5 million per month during the first half of the year and additional 5 million per month by the end of the year. On top of that, Samsung is also planning to release additional new Edge model between Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy Note 5 Edge which will be released in the second half of the year where Galaxy Note 5 Edge is just a temporary name as Samsung may change the name to some other naming convention.

Samsung announces Samsung Pay, a secure and easy mobile payment service

Samsung has officially launched Samsung Pay, its mobile payment service, at the MWC as expected. This was announced alongside Samsung’s much awaited flagship phone Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. Last month, Samsung had bought LoopPay, a mobile payment startup and now the South Korean giant is ready to take on Apple Pay with this new “secure and easy-to-use mobile payment service”.

The good thing about Samsung Pay is that it will use both its own Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) technology and the Near Field Communication (NFC) system for contactless payments making it accessible at majority of terminals. In contrast, Apple Pay uses only the NFC system for mobile payments. This means that Samsung Pay will have a greater reach and would be accepted at about 30 million retail locations worldwide. With its MST technology, Samsung Pay can also enable private label credit card (PLCC) support with the cooperation of Synchrony Financial and First Data Corp.

Samsung has already roped in two largest payment networks Visa and MasterCard and is also working to expand the Samsung Pay reach by partnering with other financial institutions such as American Express, Bank of America, U.S. Bank, Citi Bank and JPMorgan Chase.

JK Shin, CEO and Head of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics said:

“Samsung Pay will reinvent how people pay for goods and services and transform how they use their smartphones, The secure and simple payment process, coupled with our robust partner network, makes Samsung Pay a truly game-changing service that will bring value to consumers and our partners in the ecosystem.”

Samsung Pay is an easy-to-use app requiring some simple steps to add your card.  Once your card is added, you have to just swipe up from the bezel to wake the Samsung Pay app and then select the card from which you want to make the payment. Then authenticate it with the fingerprint sensor. For making payment, simply tap your smartphone to the point-of-sale (POS) terminal and viola your payment is made!

Your transaction information is protected by Samsung’s KNOX mobile security platform jointly with ARM TrustZone. Any data attacks are also thwarted.

Samsung Pay will launch in summer of 2015 first in US and Korea, expanding to other regions such as Europe and China later. Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will be the first devices to support Samsung Pay.

As per the schedule, Korean tech giant Samsung pulled the curtains over its much awaited 2015 flagship the Samsung Galaxy S6 at the MWC 2015. Needless to say that the Samsung Galaxy S6 is launched against its arch rival Apple iPhone 6 which was announced past September 2014 and has managed to grip the tech world in an excellent manner. Just when Apple is going extremely strong with its iPhone 6 sales breaking every previous record, Samsung Galaxy S6 is here put the competition straight and clean. Whether it would be able to give Apple a run for its money or not would surely be decided by users and customers. As of for now, let’s take a detailed look in the specs for the handset.

Design and Display

The design of the Samsung Galaxy S6 is something the company is said to have worked upon a lot after it received much heat for its very conventional and standard design of the Galaxy S5. Well, this time the company seems to have worked over the plastic parts and as replacement for this have come with two tampered glass pieces of toughened Corning Gorilla Glass with a solid metal frame to its sides. The frame has been very carefully designed leaving no sharper edge and offer firm grip over the device. Hardware and Software

As all the earlier rumors had said, Samsung would be baking its own home made 64-bit Exynos chipset. However, there is no news as of for now whether some Snapdragon baked versions of the Galaxy S6 are going to be released or not. Samsung has not at all compromised in its chipset as the Exynos 7420 is an octa-core chipset made with the company’s own 14nm manufacturing process. The Exynos 7 series chipset could be expected to be seen in the future flagships coming this yearahead and we would not be surprised it giving a chase for its money to the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets. The memory options have been quite topped up. The RAM for the device is now a whopping 3GB RAM and yes the handset will have three storage options only with no microSD card slot. This means we would be getting the Galaxy S6 in three storage variants of 32GB, 64GB and 128GB.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 would undoubtedly be running the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop and would be skinned over the company’s own TouchWiz UI. The latest version of the Samsung TouchWiz UI comes with many more enhancements and simplifications. Other TouchWiz features like air gestures, dual window mode, and other which has been offered previously are still present, but have now been kept under settings and menu screens.

Well, Samsung has always managed to design its TouchWiz in a way to allow users to have one handed usage and this time too it has kept the curve going. The UI has got a compact size besides its UI elements and sizeable icons make it easy for quick usage and good experience. However, of-course not all taks are one hand operation but overall it offers a good and easy maneuver of the finger over the screen.

Camera

When it comes to flagship models, Samsung has a very good hold over the camera department. With the Galaxy S6, Samsung seem to have worked a bit more towards this area and now comes with a 16MP camera snapper with many new features. Some of the most expected features are auto-focus for video camera, optical image stabilization and the real-time HDR. The device is said to have a infrared white balance that is said to be working much better over the standard white balance. The camera lens has a F1.9 aperture offering better low-light image quality. The camera app is more fast to launch and a double-tap on the home button offers more quicker access to camera. The camera app always runs in the background and is never cleaned from the system memory and don’t worry as Samsung has confirmed that this would not affect the battery life in any case.

Samsung Pay

This is the feature for which everyone was eagerly waiting for! After its recent buy-out of LoopPay, the Samsung Galaxy S6 would come with Samsung’s new pay service. Putting a competition straight against the Apple Pay, Samsung has already partnered with MasterCard and Visa, but is said to extend its for over other major players like Bank of America, American Express or Chase. The good thing about Samsung Pay is that it has got its own Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) technology, which is said to expand Samsung Pay’s compatibility to many shopping terminals across States. This means that Samsung Pay besides using its own proprietary magnetic strip terminal technology would also support the NFC payments mode for contactless payments, a similar technology that Apple follows for its Apple Pay.

With the baked in fingerprint sensor in the home button, the payment method via Samsung Pay will be a lot more easier. For e.g. during payments, a swipe at the bottom bezel or tapping on the Samsung Pay app would ask you to choose your desired registered card for payment. This would be followed by authentication via the finger-print sensor and the payment would be proceeded further in just mere seconds. The unfortunate thing is the Galaxy S6 will not support Samsung Pay for the moment as the service is said to be resumed later this summer first in US followed by South Korea, Europe and China. March 1st has declared to unveil Samsung Galaxy S6

Now, you can mark March 1 on your calendar because Samsung announced to unveil the next flagship, Samsung Galaxy S6. The brand has selected MWC 2015 in Barcelona as the unveil date for the new smartphone. Last year, Samsung also announced the previous model Galaxy S5 on the occasion. LG and Sony are also decided to announce their next flagship on March.

Samsung has started to send the invitations to the respected people to unveil the device. This is the newly redesigned smartphone with “Operation Zero.” In addition, the invitation comes with Unpacked 2015 Logo of Samsung with the date. Samsung Galaxy S Edge could also be introduced at the event.

Rumors reported that Samsung Galaxy S6 could come with a 5inch screen and powered by octa-core Exynos 7420/Snapdragon 810 CPU with 3GB of RAM. We have already had several leaked images of the Aluminum unibody of Samsung’s upcoming flagship Galaxy S6. Now, a few more metal chassis images alleged to be those of Galaxy S6 have leaked online. As such, this will be the company’s first flagship having metal chassis.

These fresh images have also been leaked by the French website Nowhereelse which has been quite a reliable source for leaking info about Samsung and Apple devices in the past. The images reveal a metal body with cut outs for the rear camera and the battery.

There is a rumor floating around that Samsung might show off its unannounced upcoming flagship Galaxy S6 at the CES. However, Samsung plans to show it to only a few “select partners” and not to the general public. The handset will officially debut somewhere in February or March this year.

Specs of Samsung Galaxy S6 have also leaked earlier through Attutu Benchmatk. The handset will feature a 5.5-inch Quad HD 1440×2560p display, 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 or Snapdragon 810 chipset, 3GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, 16MP or 20MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing one. Specs show that Samsung will be releasing several variants of the Galaxy S6 depending on the market. The phone will run the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop and will support 4G LTE category 9 or 10.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is now turning out to be the talk of the town and the previous rumor has shown that the device could be expected as early as at the CES 2014 event. The handset is supposed to come up with a completely new design under the Project Zero 2015 as adopted by Samsung. It is said that the company is now trying to revise a bit the design of its flagship handset giving it a new look.

The source has been quite famous for previously leaking the Apple and Samsung devices. Everyone is now eyeing on the upcoming Galaxy S flagship from the Korean giant Samsung. Recently floating rumors in the industry have claimed the Galaxy S6 to be made under the codename Project Zero. A recently leaked video also shows the Galaxy S6 along with its Edge variant.

Recently Sam Mobile has confirmed that the handset would be called as the Galaxy S6 which is certainly not at all a big surprise. But one more thing noted by the website is that there would be an additional version known as the Galaxy S6 Edge having a curved display. However it is still not clear whether the curved edge would be on just one or both sides of the display. This means that apart from the regular version of the Galaxy S6 there would also be an curved screen version of the device.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 specs have been rumored previously that shows the device to be having a Quad HD display with 1440×2560 pixel resolution, a 16 or 20MP primary camera to its back, a 5MP camera to its front, a Snapdragon 810 or an Exynos 7420 processor on board. The smartphone is supposed to be made with a metal body and would be announced in the first quarter of 2015.

Everyone is now eyeing on the next S series flagship from Samsung. Yes you guessed it right! It’s the Samsung Galaxy S6 that is much talks these days. Jeramine Smit has recently posted own a video which shows the concept versions of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. The next Android flagship model is said to be made from the scratch using the codename Project Zero. Additionally it is also being rumored that there would be another version of the Galaxy S6 known as the Galaxy Edge where the edge would be made available on both the right and left edges. This concept shows a curved sided panel on one side of the Galaxy S6 Edge.

The concept shows the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge having a screen resolution of 1440×2560 pixels with a 554ppi density. The two handsets would also have a very powerful charger that would charge half of the 2980mAh of battery in just 20 minutes with a complete charge in 65 minutes. The devices would sport a 20MP camera with OIS with 1080p video capture at 120fps. The primary camera would have a Dual LED flash at the back and the camera would be able to record videos in 4K resolution. The concept video shows the handsets in black and white.
